About Jackson

Jackson is the capital city of Mississippi and the largest city in the state. Located just south of the Yazoo River, the city is considered to be at the southern border of the Mississippi Delta, in Hinds County. Named for president Andrew Jackson, Jackson is known as the “city of soul.” The Mississippi Blues Trail was home to musicians prominent in blues, gospel and jazz for many years, and is famous for its amazing influence on music and culture, in addition to its illegal nightclubs. Historically, the land belonged to the Choctaw Nation of American Indians, and is still home to a number of its people today.
