Rude! No communication and not transparent in his fees
On my first phone call with Ron Harbeck, he said his fees were $800 for an eviction. When I met him in his office to enlist his service, he asked for a $1365 retainer. But instead of evicting the tenant, he went down the path of negotiating a payment schedule with the tenant and encouraging me to accept the payment schedule instead. When the first rent check came in, he deducted legal fees from it and sent me the remainder. When I received the letter from his office, there was just a check, no cover letter, no accounting of what the rent check amount he received from the tenant He told me he pays himself first and I get the rest. To make a long story short, I suspect he encouraged the payment schedule so that he could deduct legal fees at his will. He never called to let me know what was happening. When the tenant defaulted and was finally evicted, I called him to ask what was going on with the judgment, what rent amount was he fighting for on my behalf, and if I could get a copy of it? He snarled and said that I will get a copy when the judgment is settled. He said he was going back and forth with the judge on the rent amount, and now he has to explain it to me too? He hung up on me several times when I pressed to get an accounting and to get a copy of the judgment draft. I finally wrote a letter to him stating what I was trying to get across on the phone. It has been over a month and I have not yet heard a response from him. If he gets upset about providing an accounting of the checks he received from my tenant, I have to wonder if there is something he is hiding.
