I should have hired a different attorney!
Ms. Robbins came off as very knowledgable when I first met her but soon I came to regret hiring her. She claimed she knew how to handle 'high confrontation' people like my ex-wife but apparently her technique was to give in to every single demand made by my ex-wife. She never had a sense of urgency about my case and dealing with Ms. Robbins became as difficult as dealing with my ex-wife. All we were trying to do was get a child support order against my ex-wife - my kids ran away from her to live with me, and she refused to pay child support. Should have been simple but with Ms. Robbins at the helm, it took over a year to start receiving child support. When I finally did receive the court order, there were ridiculous and questionable conditions attached. Recently I found out that when the kids turn 18 they can sue their mother for the funds in their savings accounts, where Ms. Robbins had told me that there was nothing that could be done. The most important thing I learned in a 7-year custody battle where my ex-wife sued me 9 times before the kids ran away from her to live with me, is that you should always hire a lawyer who has a partner or a boss. Never hire a lawyer who works for themselves, by themselves, because there is no accountability and nobody to check their work. My advice to you is to keep looking! The best lawyer I ever hired was Linda Haspel in Rockville, MD and I wish I had gone back to her for the child support issue. For the rest of my life I will regret hiring Karen Robbins.
