April 2010, the truck was totalled. My insurance covered most of the balance, and I had gap insurance to cover the rest. I filled out the necessary paperwork on time, called and checked in with them repeatedly to make sure there was nothing else I needed to do. June, my gap claim was approved and gap sent me a notice stating so. I called Independant Finance Company (their in-house finance) to ask if they had it covered on their end. I spoke with a girl named Heather and she told me that I was paid up. I went in the office a few days later to get some paperwork from them, and a different lady told me I was also paid up, that I owed them nothing.
January 2011 I get a notice in the mail from IFC stating I owe them 868.35. This is the first I have heard from them since June. I called into the office and spoke with Shaylynn, the Senior Account Represetative, irate. She could give me no answer of why I wasn't notified of this 9 months before, and why I was told that my account was a 0.00 balance. I told her I didn't have the money to pay that, and her exact words were, "That's not MY problem," and hung up on me. I called back and spoke to Brandon, a lot calmer this time. He told me that there was no possible way that I was told my account was paid in full, and that if I would have called I would have known this. I told him that I called, and I walked in the office, and was not made aware. The whole conversation he put the blame on me, and would never admit his company made an 800.00 mistake. No resolution what so ever. In the end I am screwed out of this money, and there is nonthing I can do. I will never go back there again and am warning everybody I can not to as well.
