Wild Nights at Whiskey Girl to be Had
Seriously. If you want a wild night, go here. Not only are you in the middle of the Gaslamp already, you may walk in and have your friends carry you out.

They have a long bar and food served late night status at the tables on the floor. They clear out a large section of the floor for dancing after ten or so. The DJs and music are pretty good normally, and the lighting and massive screens that you can watch from even the street keep up the party atmosphere.

Note however that there is a dress code after ten pm. It's pretty basic though, and as far as I know, it's just that you can't wear hats or bandanas in the evening.

Drinks are normally priced, but strong enough, and there is a good selection on tap, even for people who care about good beer. There is a photo booth in the back on the way to the restroom area which is perfect for catching your best drunk moments with friends. I know I have made some lasting impressions of ridiculousness via that booth.

Beware of RUDE Deliverers
Ok so Domino's has had a good thing goin with their new pizza campaign, revamping and such. The new crust is good but way buttery and I prefer more fresh feeling healthier foods--but then, it's pizza.

Anyway, I have never had a bad experience with pizza delivery people but this guy was a total jerk. I live in an apartment and in the special directions section of the online ordering process, I noted for them to call me when they get to the gate so I could run down like I do whenever I get food delivered in the city.

A while later I hear a banging on the screen door and I'm on the phone with my mom who called about five minutes before I hear the noise. I walk up and tell him to give me a sec while I get my wallet. I walk up and am still on the phone with my mom but don't want to keep him waiting and my mom is going on about something where it would be impossible to interrupt. I motion to the phone and mouth "it's my mom", and hold the phone between my shoulder and ear, and he says in a really horrible voice, "I've been calling for fifteen minutes," while making some other obnoxious scruffy noises.

I go "I'm sorry but I didn't get anything from you."
He responds, "Well, ya know, I've been waiting, and I am already late for three other deliveries..."--He said this in a tone that implied that I just ruined his day or worse, and that his lateness was originally caused by me .

Ok jerk. If he called while my mom was on the phone, I would have seen that there was a call waiting. And before I had gotten on the phone with my mom, there were no missed calls on my phone, and I was by it the whole time since I ordered the pizza. Also, he knew I was on the phone with my mom but proceeded to be a jerk about it all. I put the phone down and told my mom to hang on when I could get a word in. I was trying not to be rude even when this guy was being horrible.

After I signed the receipt, he shoved the food at me and left without a word. Service FAIL. I never do this but I'm calling Domino's to complain.

Boar's Head?
This Ralph's is awesome because it is insanely close to my apartment. As for its objective qualities however, it's always super clean and the deli ladies are very very nice.

Also, it has underground parking, unlike the one on University. Thank the powers that be too, because parking down in the Gaslamp is a nightmare. One of the coolest things I have ever seen is the escalator thingy/inclined moving sidewalk that takes you from the garage to the store. Totally cool. And don't worry if you need to get your shopping cart to your car--they have locking wheels on the carts once they are inclined enough, as well as an elevator.

They have a killer deli section too. The ladies behind the counter are really nice about giving you samples of the deli meat before you decide if you want to buy some, and the Boar's Head stuff always has one of the varieties on sale. YUMMY. And their sale prices are actually good.

Also, in drinking land, check out their wine aisle. I usually prefer Trader Joe's for such things but they actually have legit sales on stuff now and again.

The BEST Place in the Gaslamp
Seriously. I freakin love this place. The food quality is amazing, and it's all delicious. You never walk out of there feeling like you ate like a freaking famished beast with a fat plate of raw food in front of you either. It's just right.

The atmosphere is perfect too--it's really versatile. They have more intimate booths in the back, a bar on your right when you walk in, and across from that, a bunch of table seating. They can also clear out the middle to make it more dance floor status as well, as I noticed they turn up the music a bit on weekends for the dance crowd.

The bar is stocked with legit tequila, and although not too experienced in Margaritaland, i hate sweet ones that feel like you are drinking corn syrup--these margaritas are wonderful.

And when you go, you need to get the Bananzas for dessert. Trust me, just do it.

The owner is really nice, and he is always out front to shake your hand, and even does so when I pass by and see him. They have the BEST happy hour in town too--and Sundays is happy hour all day. I take my siblings there for a sick meal when they visit for the weekends cuz you can go get so much great quality food in a relaxed, but pretty nice environment for a great price. I absolutely love this place.

FATTY MARGARITAS
Ok so I haven't actually had one of these things yet, but they are ginormous. They are so fat that they put a rubber ducky in them when they serve them to you. I want one just so I can say I have had one.

And for tequila lovers, a whole page of their tall double columned menu is for tequila. They usually have pretty good drink specials, and actually have a decent pale ale on tap.

As for food, it's all good. I go for the burrito "wet style." They actually have multiple sauces to choose from for that. They are generally busy, sometimes crowded when parties are going--they reserve the back section for that--but a fun, chill atmosphere all the time.

The servers are chill, classic Hillcrest, and they are super fun, when events go on. One of them did a cartwheel down an aisle one time I was there. Pretty legit.

I like this place.
