Dr. Joseph J. Penge received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1986. He went on to work as an adolescent counselor in a psychiatric hospital before going back to school in 1987. He completed a year of graduate level studies in physiological and behavioral psychology at the University of Florida. During this time he began to suffer from various health problems and sought the help of a Chiropractor. While under Chiropractic care, Dr. Penge began to explore the relationship between the nervous system, the immune system, behavior and health. Upon learning of the importance that an optimally functioning nervous system has in health and wellness, he re-focused his studies to Chiropractic and entered Chiropractic College 3 months later. Dr. Penge graduated from Life Chiropractic College with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1992. He has passed rigorous licensing requirements and is licensed to practice Chiropractic in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. Dr. Penge attends Continuing Education seminars several times each year to keep up with the latest breakthroughs in chiropractic research and technique. He has spent many hundreds of hours studying spinal biomechanics as taught by Dr. Walter V. Pierce and Dr. Burl Pettibon, and uses these protocols in the clinic. Dr. Penge has completed 120 hours of classroom study and passed national board examinations to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. He has received post-graduate training in neurology, X-ray and whiplash mechanics. Dr. Penge is a member of the International Chiropractor's Association , the Florida Chiropractic Society, and the Florida Academy of Chiropractic.
