Very nice. Great to have a good sushi bar close to home.
Good prices and delicious sushi. We went at the end of the night and everything was still very fresh. The prices are reasonable and the menu is diverse.

wish they were open on Sunday!!
My husband and I are regulars. We have tried pretty much every sushi place in town but at the end of the meal we always find ourselves saying "we could of saved a lot of money and had better food if we had just gone to Zen 5". We LOVE going and sitting at the sushi bar. Mr. Lee hooks you up with an instant crab/cucumber salad that is amazing (and on the house). We have ordered almost every roll on the menu, plus the sashimi, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, and miso soup and all have been delicious!! Our favorites are the spicy yellowtail and tuna sashimi! Mr. Lee finishes off the meal with a beautiful display of cut fruit (also on the house). The best part is when you see the bill and realize that you just had SUSHI at a reasonable price! This is a must visit and we just wish they were open on Sunday nights!!

Hidden Gem - As Good As Japan
I am not from Houston, but was visiting last week for work. Using my handy GPS I looked for the nearest Sushi restaurant. Upon arrival I thought the place looked closed with not too many people in the parking lot (never a good sign for a sushi place). However, as I turned around int he parking lot to go, I saw a Porshe Boxster pull in. I pulled up and asked for a personnal recommendation. The man was there to eat dinenr with his cheerleader daughter. He said that the food was great and prices were good too...I decided to give it a try.

So I sat down at the sushi bar to a welcome sign; Asian diners conversing with the sushi chef. The Miso Soup was brothy and yummy. The Sushi is cut fresh (unlike Az*** which is pre-cut for production...sits around getting not fresh..). The two sushi chefs made some great sashimi, tempura udon and seaweed salad.

Two nights later I went out to dinner with friend from Houston. We arrived at the Az*** sushi bar to see piles of precut and not so fresh looking fish. Needless to say we immediately left and went to Zen 5. Upon arrival at Zen 5 I was greeted like a returning local. We got to experience great Rolls, Sashimi, Scallops, Roe and green tea. And the bill was a bargain for the quality served.

Thank you Mr. Lee. You do a great job and put lots of love into your work...Next time I am Houston I will be back at Zen 5. I have traveled to the Orient and tasted the original...Yours business meets or exceeds all my expectations from my travels to Japan.

One suggestion: Turn on some outside lights so Zen 5 looks open and more inviting after dark.

best sushi and entres outside loop
i wanted to eat late on week night...we arrived at zen 5 after closing but they happily accomodated us. the food was incredible... my girlfriend is a sushi snob and didnt say a word the whole meal because HER MOUTH WAS FULL OF SUSHI WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE THE WHOLE TIME!!! i had a sweeeet filet cooked purrrfectly and the best tofu i have ever had! i eat here all the time now. hibachi beef on lunch special is to die for! they dont have alot of people working here (small establishment) but they are good at getting evryone taken care of on a timely manner. avoid if you are a snotty complainer(like the loser that wrote to complaint book before me...only cause the servers are soo nice and i dont want you interrupting their flow when serving me ; )

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
My friends and I decided to try this yesterday. My friend ordered the Rainbow roll which all three of us thought was mediocre. Typically we really enjoy this particular roll elsewhere. My other friend and I chose to share a Tiger Eye roll. I had never order this roll before but it sounded yummy. We asked to substitute soy paper for the seaweed paper and were told that it came with soy paper - great! The menu indicated that the roll was fully cooked, although it did not mention the method of cooking used. When we began eating a piece we both realized that something in the roll was fried. Due to dietary restrictions neither of us can eat anything fried or else we will be ill. Both of us ate a PARTIAL piece. The other 3 pieces were completely untouched and in tact. We immediately let our waiter know that we needed to send it back. Our waited came back twice to tell us that the manager would not allow us to send it back since we ate it already (which we hadn't) and since the menu indicated that it was cooked (which it did, but never mentioned TEMPURA or FRIED). According to the waiter the manager sees no difference between "fully cooked" and "tempura" or "fried". The waited said that I would have to speak with the manager myself, but that he would not come to the table to talk to me. I went to talk with the manager, plate in hand. He told me he wouldn?t allow me to send the food back because I?d eaten it, because that?s the way they prepared it and other customers like it. I explained that I would love to eat the fried roll, but I will get sick. Finally he offered to make me another roll, but at this point I was ready to go. I had already tried to resolve the matter 3 times and it was too late. Well, it ended with him saying not to pay for it, but that I ?did this on purpose?! Unbelievable. Their management evidently cares nothing for customer satisfaction. We will never go back.
