Tops any other sushi place in Charlotte, perhaps the whole North Carolina region. Great sake selection. Great place to eat fresh fish and the new dishes are yummy!

One of the best sushi places we've been to in Charlotte. Very fresh, very well prepared rolls. Service was very good too - attentive but not hovering. Reasonably priced - not the cheapest in town, but not the most expensive either. The seaweed salad was a rather large portion - even though there's some lettuce under it to expand the volume, there was still a lot - probably twice as much as any other sushi place would give you for the same price.

Being a big sushi lover I discovered Yama by chance because a friend of mine opened a store right across from it.

I have been to Nikkos, I, Ru Sans, Sushi 101, Suhi by the lake, Koi, Ginkos... and nothing compares.

It is the absolute truth! They have the BEST sushi in town - super fresh, creative rolls and arrangements, nice and friendly service, and an outstanding sake list. If you have never tried "Sparkling Sake" - here is your chance. A Martini Lover will appreciate their yummy Lychee Martini.

The sashimi is amazing and I have not seen any other place in Charlotte that offers anything similar to their HM Roll or Paul Roll - the house favorites. You have to try it and you won't be disappointed. Promise! :)

If you're in a hurry, this may not be the best sushi place...if you aren't then make sure to try it out.

Tucked away in one of the shopping centers off of Sharon Rd and Colony in South Park by Earth Fare; this is a great intimate upscale sushi/japanese hibachi restaurant that fits well in South Park.

The food is always good; there are plenty of varieties of sushi to try, the portions are very nice and everything is very fresh. Price is well in line with other Sushi places in the area such as Nikko. But this is nothing like Nikko; which can be a good thing. With low-light and quiet music playing you can have an intimate date night as well as go there with a group of friends to enjoy a good dinner. Very rarely a wait for a table, as there is quite a bit of seating.

I have eaten here quite a bit and only had a problem one night with the service where it took 45 minutes to get the appetizers and then another 20 to get the sushi out, and it was not even that busy of a night. Also, finding parking during a busy Friday-Saturday evening can be challenging as space is limited for residents of the condos as well as a lot of other retail parking patrons.

Yama has the highest quality fish in town! Coming from New York City, I had tried all the sushi restaurants around town and nothing compares to Yama. The sashimi here is very lively, the service was great and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Yama also has a huge list of premium sake and they know their sakes.
