I've been going to Dr. Wong for several years to have my eyes examined and obtain a new prescription. He is a very centered soul, quiet and fast and friendly. I usually like to talk a lot though and when I try to engage him it is as if I'm speaking with a monk (I know quite a few!), they listen with full attention but then tend not to get caught up in coversation, so I suppose he is able to focus (himself as well as me!) at the task at hand. He uses several machines that you put your chin in and have a computerized program check various parameters, and he also does quite a few manual measurements. I've always been able to get an appointment within a day or two and have never had to wait for more than 10 minutes upon arriving for an appointment. And he takes most kinds of visual insurance such as VSP, etc. His office is right next to the Triple Rock Brewery on Shattuck in Berkeley.‎

Dr Wong is more than competent as an optometrist, and he is very, very kind! Dr Wong really gave the impression of a professional doctor, who cared first and foremost about the patient's eyes, as opposed to most other eye doctors I've encountered in my life, who gave a stronger impression of a businessman, focusing more on trying to get you to spend as much money as they possibly could.

His equipment didn't seem that old to me; besides, other places will just charge a ridiculous amount for using their ultra-expensive apparatus which won't necessarily give better results. Perhaps that is why his prices are unbeatable!
