wimpeys is by far one of the best pawn shops around. theyve been on that corner forever, and i hear they are moving to a new location in february of 2007. i hear it will be just down the street near costco. they have a ton of stuff in there. some old outdated stuff, and some newer stuff, but overall a good selection. you just have to be there when the good stuff comes out, or ask for it if you dont see it. i have bought several guns there, and a few pieces of jewelry. the jewelry prices are pretty much unbeatable. you just cant be afraid to make an offer and try to deal with them. theyre all pretty easy to deal with, and have never taken offense to a low offer. if you see a price that you think is too high, just make an offer on it, theyre usually willing to work with you. ive been to a lot of pawn shops, and this one, and their sister store in baldwin park (maine pawn shop on main ave) have to be two of the best in the area.

Pawn Shops have always been good for someone down on their luck. The guy below wrote about needing cash and getting $100 bucks for a Movado. Well, if you think it's a rip off, then get a pay day loan. But if you pay the $100 bucks back w/interest and you get your watch back. I have only bought things from Wimpeys and never pawned, but I have gotten a good value on items there. It's not retail!

Cheat On Customer... by THO V. at InsiderPages
I was a bit tight on money last month so I came to this place to get some cash out of my watch. It was a small place with 2 workers. They gave me over $100 cash for my Movado watch that I bought for $590 six months ago. The price was ridiculously low. I was in need of money so they knew and took advantage of me. I would not come back here again ever.

Wimpey's pawn shop has been at the same place for as long as I can remember. They have a good reputation and constantly get new stuff in, but they don't have a consistent flow of anything such as books, vcrs, dvd players, video games. Nothing is constant they just have what they have when they have it!
