WIGS TODAY, practices of "Bait and Switch"
I was a long time customer of Wigs Today, and was so taken back recently on November 19, 2007. Karen, the owner sold me two wigs on Saturday, November 17, after I called in and requested a Revlon "Sophie" Wig. When I called before going to the store, the owner Karen told me that she had the wigs in stock. I went in and observed that she was busy with at least 2 or three customers. Karen had the wigs on display, and I was not happy, because I like to purchase only new wigs still in the manufacturer's box. However, I accepted the wigs, and Karen stuffed the 2 wigs into one box, that was a different manufactured box. Immediately when I arrived home, it was too late to return to the store, as it was closed. I noticed that I had not only the wrong wig, one had a white cap sewed in the head of the wig as if it had been damaged. I observed that the tags were cut off; I now surmise that this is to fool customers into just accepting any wigs with the belief that customers don't really know the difference if the tabs are cut out!
I find this "bait and switch" practice so offensive that I am going to small claims court, because I do not believe that my money will be refunded. I went to the store on Monday after getting off my high school teaching job at 4:09. I noticed the door was locked even though the store was opened. The clerk name Louise refused to let me speak to the owner, even though I requested and called 3 times. I was told that the owner said "return to the store when on the following Saturday, when she would be there, and that was the only way I could exchange or get a refund".
My bank is in the process of refusing to pay the store, and I would advise never make a purchase there but go to the internet Site Wigs Outlet and get the same wigs for half the price. I will never make another purchase at Wigs today, and in fact, the best place to get wigs is at the "Wig Outlet" in Industry, for half the price that Wigs Today sell the wigs!
