If you love your kids don't send them here
Unless you're ready to give up on your child and allow them to suffer a horrible middle school and high school experience... don't send them here. This school caters to children with severe psychological and emotional issues and learning disabilities. For example ADD, ADHD, anorexia, self injury, pyromania, OCD, Anxiety, tourettes syndrome, epilepsy, mental retardation etc etc... Take it from someone who spent 5 years at this school. It's not a fun place to be. The counseling sessions they require are a joke - they are just a good excuse to get out of class for an hour. When I attended the woman they hired as Dean was power hungry and got a kick out of yelling at kids and giving them detention for minute reasons. The bathrooms are frequently filled with human feces on the walls and floors, so much so that they have to have a sign in sheet to use the restroom. I found that the staff were demeaning and babysat each child, basically giving them the answers and watering down required courses to ensure that kids pass and graduate high school. It's really a dehumanizing experience. One is expected to fail of course. High expectations of students are a non-existant. Really not a quality education. 11 years later and I still feel like I've been robbed of all those years and valuable information that I should have been taught. Kids who graduate and go on to SMC are considered great success stories. I was one of those rare kids that went onto a four year college and have been succescul. But I do not consider my success to be a result of attending Westview but rather DESPITE my miserable time at Wetstview. Graduating from that place it's really a wonder I ever accomplished anything let alone basic reading and writing skills. I still lay awake at night thinking of how much I hate that place. I will forever be burdened by my time there. My family now regret sending me there and wish they had believed me at the time. I hope you see beyond the facade and spare your kids from this place. There has got to a better option!
