These stores are the best feed and pet supply stores in all of Sacramento!!! I have shopped in the national chains (Petsmart/Petco) and can never find anyone who knows anything. All just a bunch of high school kids. I have shopped in some of the small independent stores (Animal Nutrition Center/Incredible Pets) and they are way too expensive, and seem to push products that they make the most money on. At Western Feed the prices are great, and the employees seemed to be trained and really care about my pets. I found the feed store when my best friend recommend I give it a try. I went to check it out on a Saturday and a low cost shot clinic was going on. I thought that was very cool and the prices blew away what my vet was charging. In the store, I found a small retail area, but couldn't believe how many different things I had never seen before. They had treats that are out of this world. I spoke to an older lady who helped me with my pet food. I never realized I was feeding by-products and garbage before. She gave me plenty of samples for my bulldog and my cats. I now feed Innova, and my buddies are looking and doing great. Nice shiny coats and no more smell. Anyway, you should be able to tell I love this store and won't be shopping any where else. If you love your pets, please shop at Western Feed for their sake!!!!

This pet store is off of Don Way. If you are going down Fair Oaks Blvd. from San Juan Ave. and heading towards the Manzanita/Fair Oaks split, you will take a left on Wayside right before the split. Once on Wayside you will see the store on your right, just after the bend. If you are heading up Fair Oaks Blvd. from El Camino and towards Manzanita, you will take a right on Don Way and the store will be on your left.
There a couple pros about Western Feed & Supply. If you know how to administer shots correctly, you can buy your cats and dogs vaccination series for around $6. They also offer a huge bag of cedar bedding for like $6 compared to petstore prices of $20+ for the same thing. However, cedar bedding can cause respitory problems for small animals, and often times respitory problems in small animals are fatal. Buy your bird food in bulk from Western Feed & Supply for cheap! And if you're smart keep it in the fridge to keep fresh. They have all sorts of bird seeds. I buy my canary seed mix there along with some nigerian thistle seed (the black seeds) that he loves. My friend buys seeds to feed doves with there. They sell bunnies there for around $20, but the bunny my boyfriend got died within a couple months. It developed a respitory ailment. Often times in small animals, they already carry a virus that will surface itself as a a fatal respitory condition at some point in its life.

You really have to be looking when you try to find this place but once you do, I think you will be really glad. They have a large selection of the usual cat food and dog food but you can also get food for horses, rabbits, chickens, etc. The employees are eager to help you find whatever you need. I was really amazed the first time I went there.

I had to go here to get a shot kit for our new puppy. The saleslady was very helpful and friendly. She gave me advice on how to give the advice, and just made small talk.
The store had a lot of things for every pet.. big and small.
The store didn't seem to have an AC or it wasnt on.. I did comment to her that it was hot in there.
There seemed to be very little parking though. The store is on a small street, so its easy to pass right up.
