Wonderful D.O. / Excellent Staff
I really liked this Dr's personality and her staff's unwavering professionalism. They were extremely busy, because they do take walk-ins. I told them I would wait for an opening if someone canceled because I really needed an exam and some contacts. I'd had to save up some money because of losing insurance. It was to the point that I could barely see to drive, much less take any typing tests for interviews. I patiently waited and happened to witness this irate mother come in because her 13 yrld could not put his contacts in and the mother was having to do it for him. She stated she was not leaving until one of the staff members physically instructed her son, one on one how to do this. I observed that the mother was obviously embarrassing him with her belligerence because he repeatedly asked her to lower her voice or to calm down. He mentioned that the other patrons were staring since she was causing a commotion. It seemed that this woman felt the only way to request help was to be demanding and belittling. One of the staff members patiently listened to her tirade while acknowledging the constant flow of new people into the office and made the judgement call to have her speak with the Doctor. She was also very patient while the woman insisted on this request during an hour before closing and called someone from the Optical Department inside the store because in theory, that is where she should have gone. That person mentioned that they show all people who are wearing contacts for the first time, a video, and then have them practice putting the contacts in until they are comfortable doing it and then ask them if they any questions on it. This has been my experience, also. I understand that some people are not used to the idea of touching their eyeball, as it seems with the boy, then you are really going to have a hard time and maybe should just stay with glasses. That person took the boy into their sample room along with the mother hurrying after. He had already had those contacts for 2 weeks. :)
