I've only been there twice and both times was completely overwhelmed by the available selection. Everything from John Waters to Jean Luc Godard.

Esad has no clue what he's talking about! If you just want to see what was in a theater near you 6 months ago then it really doesnt matter where you go. However if you want to find the great movies that you remember or the great movies that you never heard of before b/c they didnt have Tom Hanks or Angelina Jolie in them or they were made in a different country or before 1999, then Visart is a must. Blockbusters (and other chain stores) catalog stock is spotty and disapointing, at best, to the real movie fanatic. They have anything you can think of and some things you can't. It's the last REAL video storeon earth. Go there! Now! I mean it!

PROS: If they can't get it, it can't be got.
CONS: They still do late fees to protect their stock.

Visart Video is an ok video store, nothing really special and not really that big of a collection either. They are about the same price as the other stores such as Blockbuster and Hollywood video except Visart Video has a three day rental instead of the five that you could get at Blockbuster or Hollywood video for the same exact price. I have not really been that impressed with them and have payed way too may late fees. The people that work in the store and not very helpful either, and not as friendly as those who work at Hollywood video. If I had a choice, I would definitely pick Hollywood video over these guys any day.

Everyone agrees the selection is good, especially the Carrboro store near the Arts Center and Cat's Cradle. I have no complaints about the staff. They are always friendly and helpful to me. They know their stuff and will make suggestions if I ask or sometimes volunteer things they think I might like (based on what I'm renting). If there's ever a problem with a damaged DVD or tape, they give me a coupon for a free rental. The lines move pretty quickly. They let people come in with their dogs, so I get to play with dogs while I'm getting videos. The parking lot can get crowded, but there are lots of spaces reserved for VisArt customers.

Every time I go to visart, especially the one by the cat's cradle, the people who work there are incredibly rude to me, acting like I'm an idiot or seeming like it's so hard to help me. It's the only place I go because of the foreign films section but I am sick of being treated like dirt for going there. - JEFF HANDLE
