AVOID for Orthopedic inserts!
I went into the Village Shoe Shop in Houston to order some orthopedic shoe inserts. I showed them an old pair of inserts and stated that those type of inserts were exactly what I wanted and could they make them? The sales person said yes, so I had my feet molded and measured for the inserts. Came back about three weeks later to pick up the inserts and found that they had made the inserts completely WRONG -- the inserts were completely different from what I had requested. So, they had to remake the inserts.

I then returned three weeks after that and found that the new shoe inserts were again NOT what I had requested -- they were completely WRONG -- made of the wrong materials and the wrong way. They tried to glue some cork onto the bottom to try to "fix" the problem, but I refused to pay for such a cheap workaround that would only last a few months. So, once more Village Shoes said were going to remake the inserts. I made sure to once again show them the type of inserts I wanted, and they promised that they would make what I requested.

Came back AGAIN three weeks later. The orthopedic inserts were once again NOT what I had asked for. They were "closer" to what I wanted, but the store had NOT used the materials they had promised to use. I took the inserts home to try them and they were not very comfortable so I don't wear them now. Plus, the top leather on the orthopedic inserts started peeling off. I gave up on the Village Shoe Shop because it was now almost 3 months from when I placed my original order. $350 down the tubes. I have no idea WHY they can't seem to follow the most basic of instructions. I won't be going back there again.

Awful Service & Absent-minded workers!
I've a pair of Mary-Jane styled Tommy Hilfiger shoes that I love so much with only worn out heels. Since Rice Village has been so popular with so many famous brand name store, I trust that the only shoe repair store here would give my favorites shoes some good fix to the heel bottom.

So, I've brought my shoes to the store on Wednesday afternoon & was promised by the clerk to receive them back on Thurs with a total of $12.50 for heels fixing. I told the clerk that I will pick them up when I'm off on Fri so just get them ready for me. I decided to give them good time to complete the job, and so I went to pick up the shoes on Fri late afternoon, instead of early morning. To my surprises, the shoes haven't been fixed at all & the new clerk cannot even find my shoes until she walked around the shop to look for them. Then, they asked me to come back in 10minutes & they will get them fixed in that time. How's ridiculous! After a good walk around the shopping place, I came back to pick up the shoes. To my amazements, the heels are brand new, but the laces that should still be intact around the shoes are all torned out & seemed to be beaten up so bad that they are ripped apart. Wow! I think to my head, this is a whole $12.50 for a now all ripped up shoes.

In addition to the whole awful service, the girl charged my credit card a dollar more than it should be as estimated. What's am I supposed to do when I look at my credit card when I got home! Gee, drive all the way back & say this awful service should not even be costed more than a penny. I've now learned my lesson. Although the area might be nice, the service won't be as good as you think.

I should have just saved that moneys to buy another new pair of shoes as I've now done. Never again would I think of fixing any shoes, no matter how much I like them at this store again. One service shows all. What's a disappointment!
