Great Gowns, Terrible Business
It is unfortunate that this place has such great designers because the staff is horendous. At first when you go in they are so sweet and nice. But after you purchase they don't give a $#%@ about you! Also, they underestimate your gown arrival time.. which was ok for me because i bought mine in advance of my wedding. However, my gown was displayed in store and in catalogue with a flower and they did not tell me I had to purchase this extra. ($90) So I was almost left with a dress with no accessory had I not gone back on a separate day and heard someone else ask the question.

Also, they were terribly condescending when i said i did not want to get my alterations done there. I have heard / read horror stories about their alterations dept so I wanted to avoid it (and my gown fit pretty well). They they tried to get me to "store" my gown there. When I said I was taking it home they let me know that "ALL BRIDES STORED THEIR GOWNS THERE. Like i was white trash or something.

First of all, they should have mentioned this service up front. Secondly, Why do they care if I take my gown home.

They were rude... and pissed I did not use their alterations. They saw over $500 walked out the door and were grasping at straws.

I would not let my BFF buy from here.

Please do not buy your wedding gown here!
My entire experience from start to finish was MISERABLE and extremely stressful with Victorian Rose Bridal on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh, NC. They of course are super pleasant when you try on gowns and buy them (paying 100% up front). I had to call them to find out if my dress was in and it was...no one followed up with me. At my first fitting, they tried to convince me that the dress I had on was the one I ordered and told me that I "had forgotten what it looked like" during the 5.5 months that it took to come in. I went home after the fitting and looked at my pics as well as the designer website and knew that the dress they fitted me in was not correct. So they "found" the correct dress and had me fitted the second day. For my 2nd fitting, they gave me some other girl's veil (when I didn't even order one), lost my excess material that was cutoff during alterations, and completely got my name wrong. During my 3rd fitting, they couldn't initially locate my dress because they thought I was there for a "1st fitting" - very unorganized. Then, they didn't even make the alterations from the 2nd fitting (straight pins still in dress and bustle ribbons underneath were not fixed). The owner assured me that she would make sure "this time it was fixed" and that she would press it herself for me to pick up the following day for my wedding. I picked it up the next day but didn't want to check that they made the alterations b/c of lack of time and b/c the dress had been pressed and placed in the bag neatly (didn't want to wrinkle it). I trusted that they took care of it but to my dismay and 45 minutes in the bathroom at my reception and several safety pins later, it was obvious that they never made the final alterations. I still had straight pins in my dress gathering a huge "bunch" of material and we had to get creative to bustle it correctly. They make you pay for your alterations up front (for me it was approx. $400) and then they don't even fully alter the dress. This was my only stressor/mishap during my wedding planning. They offered to give me a free cleaning and preservation for all of my headaches, but I would rather pay someone else to do it because I do not trust this company. They are horribly unorganized and do not have a good system in place. Their customer service is HORRENDOUS and pretty much non-existent. Please do not buy your gown from these people!!!

So far so good...
I am a HUGE STICKLER for customer service so I will be completely up front with my review...so far. My best friend and maid of honor had to convince me that Victorian Rose was a fitting place to look. I had a limited budget and did not want to feel like I was wasting anyone's time, including mine. I had my hesitations, I thought the staff would be snotty and no one would want to help me. Not the case. I had a great experience. I called the day before and confirmed my appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very very nice. Upon arriving I was introduced to Shannon and she was GREAT! She immediately asked what I "envisioned" and started pulling dresses. She helped me for 2.5 hours and focused solely on me. She was not stuck up and was not phased by my limited budget. She helped me, made suggestions and made the experience wonderful for me, my mom and my bridesmaids. I will say, after reading the reviews, I sincerely HOPE that the great service continues. Fingers crossed!

one thing after another
Pursuant to their website, I made an appointment to look at bridal gowns. When I arrived there was an employee ready to help me and she did, for about 10 minutes, then another customer came back into the store and apparently this customer seemed more promising to her and I was abandoned. I looked at dresses for another 15 minutes and no one else would help me bc I had already been "claimed"...Finally, after my insistance, another employee began to assist me. The service was not outstanding but adequate, however, I found the perfect dress. It was off the sales floor BUT I was assured and was convinced that it was brand new out of the box that day. I inspected the dress and could tell that it had not been tried on and it was in great condition...so i bought the dress...
My mistake was leaving it in the store after I had purchased it. I called 4 weeks later to pick up the dress for a bridal portrait and when I went to pick it up I was told that "steaming the dress caused the dust to create stains" and "since I had bought the dress of the sales floor that is why there were now stains on the front of the dress". They also told me that it was typical for off the sales floor dresses...Basically I was made to feel that it was my fault, yet I was given no warning about this when I purchased the dress. They were not apologetic and it seemed ludacris that my once mint condition dress now had lines running down the front of it..I was forced to pay 100 dollars to get it dry cleaned...I'm not sure the problem is fixed now. I pick up the dress soon and am praying that the dry cleaning fixed it...Basically, you can't trust anyone and there is always an excuse...don't leave your dress with them to store and don't get them to steam it.

Wonderful Service!
I had a wonderful experience at Victorian Rose. Melissa and Rachel were more than great with me. I did not know what styles I liked so Melissa helped me pick out a few suggestions (she even guided me to the clearance section!) She listened to my budget price as well.

I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses from there, which was so easy. The best thing was that Victorian Rose price matches! My Dresses I bought for the girls were $215.00 at the store so Melissa suggested I look online and they would price match. I found them for $115.00 and when I told her, she said, "Okay, then that is what we will charge" no questions asked!

I felt like a valued customer the moment I went in the store. My fittings, portrait cleaning and re-cleaning all went smoothly. The girls made me feel beautiful every time I tried my dress on and they remembered who I was when I would call or visit. I highly recommend this salon.

I have read some of the negative reviews on here and I think people need to be a little more open-minded...when you work with professionals, you should trust their opinion. I highly recommend this salon!!!
