"Happy Camper"
Not aware of the reviews given to this shop, I whent ahead and had new drapes made and furniture re upholstered.

I was surprised to see the reviews...but I wrote one on Yelp and you can read more there...
Overall, I am a "happy camper" choosing fabrics took me a while and executing the project took a bit more...the owner was patient and has knowledge and a good eye for the most minimal detail.

My drapes look great! and the old sofa that I was going to put out in the streets is now more beautiful and comfortable than ever! The owner whent out of his way to find me a curtain rod of my taste and finally ended up making me one to my specifications. The antique chairs needed wood touch ups, but I did not want to re finish them so they were given a french wax (at their expense)

The shop is clean and has nice natural lighting.
Prior to hiring Venezia to do my window treatments and re upholstering, I had consulted with several interios designers and all I saw were big fat fabric swatch books and their big bills.
Venezia did not charge me for their consultation fees nor pick up/delivery or drapes installation services.

I recomend this upholstery shop and will do more business with them as soon as I can afford to do more projects with them.

Disaster of a store.
In an effort to support a local business, and despite getting a recommendation for a better priced alternative, I worked with Venezia Upholstery on a window seat cushion. It was a terrible idea for the following reasons:
1. Instead of taking a 50% deposit, Venezia charged the full amount. This should have been a red flag.
2. Appointments to measure the space were repeatedly missed (5 or 6 times). Measurements were lost, requiring more appointments, that were - yet again - repeatedly missed.
3. The window seat cushion was supposed to take 3 weeks. After 2-months, I finally got a cushion. Not mine though. It was made from completely the wrong fabric.
4. Finally, 3.5 months after paying in full, and only after I opened my first ever dispute against a store through Visa, I got the window seat cushion. It is beautiful. It is comfortable. But I will never do business with this store again.

No Idea if this place is even good at what they do!
I was happy to find out they did house calls b/c I had a small very visible rip in my new couch. My pillows are attached and I didn't want to move the whole couch to a shop. Michael was prompt to come by, check it out and give me a great price estimate. I was thrilled and scheduled an appointment right away. Fast forward 4 weeks and 3 missed appointments, my couch still isn't fixed.
The first time we set an appointment, I rearranged things at work and sat home for over an hour past the time he was supposed to show up- no call no show! I finally called and got through to be told he forgot to update the appointment in his book- he was sorry and we rescheduled for the following Saturday.
Saturday came and went, only to be met with the same thing, no call, no show! He lost track of time, was too busy working on something and again, I sat home for over an hour waiting for nothing. Shame on me at this point b/c I decided to reschedule one more time (3 strikes right?).
This weekend we expected Michael at 11. I called to reconfirm this time- left a message. I was SHOCKED to get a call back but it was to tell me he was running late, could we do it at 2ish. I could not due to an appointment so asked to do it 3:30-4, he confirmed.
Then he called at 2 saying "please tell me you are home, now". I wasn't and said I needed to keep our original 3:30 time.
At 3:15 we raced home to ensure we were here. I even called at 3:30 to tell him I was around the corner in case he was there promptly. The joke was on me, not only did he not answer, he never showed up, and did not bother to call with any type of excuse. Strike three. What a horrible business practice and how irresponsible of someone trying to run a business in these times. The joke is on him at this point, b/c we also decided to install $2,500 in roman shades in our new home that we planned to order with Michael if the couch turned out. We have now confirmed the order with a much more reliable company.

can't do slipcovers by gretchen g. at InsiderPages
I had a horribly unprofessional experience with Michael the owner. When I asked if he could make slipcovers, using as a pattern -the slipcover I handed to him (custom made 8 yrs earlier for $100 a piece -great reversible fabric that fit beautifully), he said he could. I asked how long it would take to make eight. He indicated that it would be two weeks - a month if I waited until closer to the holidays. It was September seventeenth.
I told him my cap was $125, what fabrics did he have that would meet this criteria -there is a nice pattern in a book he displayed? He handed me a book to take home, indicating any thing in this book would do - that the displayed book was discontinued fabrics.
I took home the book and three days later returned with the desired fabric selection. Once again, I asked about how long this would take and how much it would cost. He played with his computer and tape measure for about five minutes and he said he couldn't do it for less than $1600. I said that's too much. He asked if I could do $150 each. I asked if that was with a two week delivery and he said yes. I agreed to pay for 8 slipcovers; modeled after the one I gave him for pattern, that would be ready in two weeks. He said that he would need half now so that he could order the fabric.
Two weeks went by and I called to see if they covers were ready: they were not. He said the fabric just arrived he'll have them done in another week. I called again one week later to hear that I was not his only job and he's working on it. I stopped by with my husband and told him we were having a Halloween party on the 24Th October and I need them. He assured us his mother was working on them and they would be ready the Tuesday before but he needed a chair to make sure they fit. He came by the next day to fetch it.
Tuesday came and went. Michael left a message on Wednesday saying he would deliver th
