Urban Solace is a chic little restaurant in North park. the name is fitting since i felt peaceful upon entering the dark candle lit eatery. The menu is a list of the different American comfort foods. I had the Pulled Chicken and Buttermilk Dumplings (15.95) and my friend ordered a Monte Diego: Baked Egg Bread, Smoked Ham, Fontina Cheese, Grilled Pears, Strawberry-Currant Jam (9.95). For an appetizer we had Skillet Shrimp and Chili Grit Cakes (6.00). It was a Wednesday afternoon so the restaurant was empty other than a couple on the other side of the room. Our shrimp took 20 minutes and was very disappointing. 3 shrimps and two single spoonful of corn meal cake was hardly an appetizer for two people. our entrees did not show up for another half hour but it was worth the wait. The food is absolutely delicious. my dumplings were perfect and milky sweet. i bartered half my dumplings for half of the Monte Diego and the sandwich was amazing. it was crispy, chewy, sweet, and savory. the waitress never offered to refill our wine or water glass.
Pros : Tasty comfort food
Peaceful Atmosphere
Might Impress a Date
Cons : Unhealthy (duh its comfort food)
