Rude, bad service
I purchased a pair of glasses at Cohen's Fashion Optical on West 72nd Street in Manhattan. Under normal use, the dark plastic frames became discolored and whitish in places so I called the store about replacing them. I was told that I needed to speak with the manager, who was out and would call me back the next day, but I never received a call back so I went to the store.

Both the salesperson I spoke with in the store as well as Kim (?), the optician and manager, were very rude and snippity. They seemed disinterested in helping me since I purchased the glasses prior to the recent change in ownership of the store so from their perspective I was not their customer. Kim told me that I needed to speak with the frames company - she had me call them from the store. But when the frames company told me that as a wholesaler they only dealt with opticians, not patients, they would need to speak with the optician, Kim played "passive aggressive" and would not come to the phone - she went to the back of the store, then took care of another patient, only speaking with them when the frames company representative, who was trying to be very helpful, was about ready to hang up since she couldn't stay on the phone forever. And in her conversation with the frames company she made no effort to get them to replace the frames.

Cohen's did not address my problem adequately and the only options they offered were to sell me a new pair of glasses, or a replacement frame for nearly 3 times as much as the price for replacement frames online. They made no effort to provide patient-centered care. All in all it was a very unpleasant experience dealing with this store which does not make an effort to stand by its product.

I've had a good experience with Cohen's Fashion Optical in the past, but each store is an individual franchise and I would recommend against going to the Cohen's Fashion Optical on West 72nd Street in Manhattan - there are several others nearby which would be a much better choice.

Great place for glasses and lots of fun
I've been wearing glasses most of my life and I've never had so much fun picking out glasses. I love their selection. Beatrice and Tatiana helped me pick out a great set of glasses. Very happy.

TERRIBLE SERVICE IN PARK SLOPE
The new Park Slope store is completely incompetent. I brought two glasses in for new lenses, using the same frames. The service was at best impersonal. I was told it would take a week, even though they were a standard prescription. I had a bad feeling when I left the store after placing my order, but didn't cancel it. One pair took almost two weeks, but the sunglasses were not finished. They took an additional four days. They ended up the wrong shade and were much too light for sunglasses. Plus, thewere instructed to match the shade of the existing lenses. I was told it the new ones were correct and good. The paperwork and the old lenses were lost, so we couldn't check it out. They dumbed me out and it was very clear they had no intention of making this right. This experience cost me over $350. I would strongly urge people to avoid this store.

stay away
Upon realizing that the Cohen stores were advertising 100 dollars off for frames and lenses I decided to try them out. I checked out 3 stores in NYC first...all had rude salespeople who were incapable of being truthful.
Finally I found a pair of frames I liked at the store in PArk Slope. The manager had NO customer service skills.
when I placed the order with the sales girl I inquired about the discount and was told there would be $100 off plus no fee for the eye exam. When I returned to pick up, the final price reflected no discount at all and was $200 higher than any pair I have ever bought (over 30yrs)in many high end designer shops in NYC.
The store manager lied right to my face...telling me my current glasses were not veralux, which is easy to prove they were. He then could not properly fit the glasses and I left the store with ill fitting, lopesided $1000 glasses!
I had to return when he wasnt there and have someone else fit them.
I now have to fight for my promised discount.

I say Stay Away.....so many better places in NYC for eyecare!!

Pretty Good Experience
Overall I had a decent experience and was happy with the doctor and the glasses they helped me pick out. I have a hard time telling what looks good on myself so it was nice to have someone who could offer an opinion. The downside to the visit was that I had to wait for longer than I would have liked because the store was very busy when I was there.
