University Lights has the worst customer service. We went there, rather than a Home Depot or Lowe's, because we wanted in put from a professional on what lights to put in our home. We were replacing almost all of the lights inour downstairs. They offered no help. They gave us 20 books to take home and look through ourselves. When I found something I liked but wanted to see if it can in a little different style they acted like it was too much of an inconvenience for them to help us. I assumed that because they work with lights all day they would know where to look, and would do it without acting like we were putting them out. I should have taken that as a sign things would not go well. When the electrician came out to install the lights we realized some of the lights they ordered for us were wrong and some of them were missing parts. And the electrician had rented an extra ladder and had an extra helper with him to specifically put in the lights that were missing parts. We asked University Lights to order the correct lights. They were supposed to be in in a week. No one in the store bothered calling us back to give us an update. We had to call them to find out what was going on. On Monday they said they would order them and the lights would be in in two days. I scheduled the electrician to come back out on Saturday. By Friday when I had not gotten a call from them, I called to pick up the lights. The manager informed me that she had just order the lights that morning!! This is an aweful store! They have terrible customer service, no follow up and take no responsibility for helping the customer. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

When I was looking for lighting for my kitchen remodel I looked at stores like Home Depot and Lowe's and online. I hadn't really found anything that I loved, so I decided to check some local stores. University Lights was the third independent retailer I went to and it was magical when I walked in! They have an amazing display of lighting with all sorts of colors, shapes, and styles. It was incredible! Someone came to help me right away and I happened to mention that I liked a certain fixture but wanted something more traditional in styling and the salesperson said the fixture came with different options and when she showed me the catalog I found the perfect lights! The lights were inexpensive, which was a really nice surprise. They have all price points and styles so definately give them a look.

1) Frequently cheaper than on-line. 2) Have one of the best contemporary collections of catalogues and are happy to order from catalogues. 3) Fun, humorous and funny salespeople. They like to get to know you. 4) Extremely knowledgeable, especially the owner. 5) I have often spent hours on-line looking for just the right lights, then went into Univ. Lights and within an hour found what I wanted. not only that, the salepeople often remember what I liked. If you need anything fixed, the onlyh person around town to take it to is Univ Lights.
