Watch out for pricey care
I have owned a dog my entire life - 6 dogs in total over the last 25 years. I have to say, I have never been to a vet where I have paid so much money. If you're not careful, they will completely take advantage of you. I use to go to a vet on the upper east side and moved down here so found this place since they were close by. In the last year, I have paid over $2,000 in vet bills, for a perfectly healthy dog. Every time I go in, there seems to be yet another "test" or something I need to pay for, thing I never even heard of or look up when I get home that are not needed for my pet. While there, they give you no warning as to the cost of things - like this is going to cost "so and so." When I ask, I get a vague answer until I see the bill. They don't logically tell you what to expect, and do not watch out for the customer, they just try to make their money. Everytime I have been in there waiting there have been complaints from others about their bill - and I have never been somewhere where I have heard so much complaining. I had my dog's annual shots one year, they gave him 2, then made me come back a month later for the other 3 (I don't know to this day why they couldn't do them all at once). For the last 10 years he would get them all at once - why would they make me come back? Everytime I have been in there has been an instance like this - poor planning on their part to get me back and paying for another visit. While the vet staff is friendly, there is poor planning and bad customer service at the front desk. Take it from someone who has owned pets many years and knows a thing or two about their care - you are getting ripped off here. There are too many other caring vets in the city with more affordable care. It just makes me sad that in this economy, vet places are not taking into consideration logical steps to help people save money. I am saddened by others who get duped, and then end up having to give away their pets because care for them is so pricey. I hope others do not fall into this trap.
