Overall: Horrible experience
Total Leather Care of Florida was contracted to repair some of our furniture through Montage furniture warranty service. Initially, TLC was supposed to make contact with us to schedule the repairs, but my wife had to call them after a week had gone by with no communication. Initially, TLC had no appointments available for two weeks, but this was okay and we took the first available.
On the morning of our scheduled appointment the technician called after our appointment time to inform us he couldn’t make it, due to a newly discovered car problem. TLC would call to reschedule, he said. They never called.
That afternoon I called to reschedule, and the lady who answers the phones, Rosie, informed me that they never knew the tech had cancelled. She said she did not have next week’s schedule yet, but would have it by the end of the day and would call me back. She never called.
I called again the next day and was informed that she did not even do the scheduling, but the lady who did would be in later that day and that she would call me. She never called.
I called the next day and talked to “Leather Joe.” He assured me that someone would call to schedule an appointment either the next day or on Friday. No one ever called.
Finally, after playing a one person version of phone tag for a few more days, a new appointment was made. This was for a week later and barely fit into our schedule (we are moving overseas).
The tech showed up and began the repairs. He used a dried stain with a sealant/activator (as was described to me) to cover up scratches we had accumulated on some wood and metal portions of our furniture. However the color did not match as it was a dark beige color in some areas on our flat black trim. I asked him if the color would blend or darken as the sealant dried, and he said that it does, it just takes about an hour and a half. I also asked about the sealant, since it was still glossy and did not match out matte black finish. He said it would also dry with a matte result. The colors did not darken, and the sealant did not dry to match. Our furniture now looks worse.
I called TLC after two hours had passed and noticed the colors were not matching. Again I was given a rescheduling run-around and was told I would need a new claim from Montage for them to come out and do a “new” job. Montage did this, so I called TLC to schedule a re-repair.
At this point, Rosie was able to tell me that there would be no openings in the week before we moved our belongings overseas. When I called Montage to relay this information, they were told by TLC that it would be no problem to fix the mistake in the time remaining.
The end result is that TLC has produced a “repair” that has left our furniture worse than before the technician arrived, and they are unwilling to fix their errors. I would never recommend that anyone use Total Leather Care of Florida’s services. Overall, nothing TLC has done has constituted good business.
