Of course the experience can vary from night to night depending on the comics, but I had a great time at the Comedy Store in La Jolla. It's a smaller venue and I went on a Thursday so it wasn't too too crowded. 2 drink minimum and we saw like 7 different comics - we finally left around 10:45 (when they announced there were a bunch more to come... it was getting late and we had been there since 8).
Parking can be a pain but I think it's a great alternative to the boring movie or just drinks. I will definitely go back!
