Rock on over to see this Center by Barbara F. at InsiderPages
No trip to New York City would be complete without a visit to Rockefeller Center for many reasons and for everone. Whether its a first visit or a repeat visit there is so much to see and do in that spectacular area of the citys center.
It is the spot you see each day on the Today Show where hundreds, maybe thousands, of visitors to New York go every morning to catch a glimpse of Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Al Roker do the weather and the guest celebrities who might be working the crowds that dayOn Fridays, when they feature a musical concert on the Plaza, the crowds swell to massive sizes and, as the camera pans the area, I always look for my favorite places and the art work that adorns each entranceway to those incredible buildings. One such amazing sight this year was a modern sculpture, I guess you could call it, of 6 men and women seemingly climbing to the sky on a large pole..Im not sure exactly what it signified but it was mesmerizing to look at as I stood beneath it.
But, its the Art Deco murals that adorn each doorway that keep me coming back each time I am in the city...Each one more amazing than the next.. One called Wisdom, another, Light and Sound, huge murals in the most classic Deco style and so dramatic one has to be amazed at each and every one. As with all New York buildings you really have to look up to see the magic
PROS: Much to see and do
CONS: none
