Clearing up the confusion
I took my Vietnamese wife here, and she confirms that it's authentic. I think the people saying it tastes like Chinese probably ordered Chinese dishes. They do offer Chow Mein and Kung Pow. Probably for the people who walked in and are afraid to experiment with actual Thai food.

First off the salad that came to me had a hair in it. Not a big deal for me, it happens. I returned the salad and got a fresh one. I am in the Marine Corps and am not picky when it comes to eating out.

We ordered the seafood sour soup which I found excellent. The scallops were tender and fresh. My wife ordered the papaya salad as her entree. She found it on the spicy side, even though she had told them not spicy. I ordered the panang curry chicken. The vegetables were cooked al dente, and the curry sauce was very flavorful.

They only have 3 types of beer to order, Bud, Bud light and Singha (Thai beer). My beer could have been colder. The glass was warm as well.

Entrees range from $12-17; a little on the pricey side for Thai food. Overall a good experience, service was above average and friendly. The atmosphere was quiet. The tables weren't too close together as someone said earlier. Total bill was $50 including tip, a beer and Thai coffee. Parking was adequate. We went on a Sunday at around 5:00 on the spring forward time change. They have specials from 4:00-5:30 which amount to combination plates for a reasonable price.

Good experience
Good: Nice interior, good food, attentive service
Indifferent: When ordering, they didn't ask how spicy we wanted the dishes. I'm used to something akin to "1 to 5 stars"
Bad: Prices on high side, didn't care to be billed an extra $1 for more rice

We had Panang Curry ($11) and Pad Thai ($11). The curry was really great, the Pad Thai I found a little on the bland side, but that happens to me more often than not, so that's probably more to personal taste. Everything else coming out o f their kitchen looked delicious.

They have some chinese stuff and some japanese staples on the menu. A previous poster seemed to take offense, I don't really see why. Just order what you want, don't fault them for giving you more choice :)

favorite thai resto period
I am first and foremost writing this after seein what the last person said about it being terrible. I cannot believe that. I have gone to thai smile easily over 50 times, and have only had SUPERB food, time and time again. I am vegetarian (was vegan) and have travelled the country a lot; point being that thai food was usually my best option, and after eating at over 40 something different restos... thai smile always remained my favorite. No question about it. My wife, mother, and multiple friends all eat meat and only rave about their dishes.

main points are...

- the flavors are CLEAN ... you can taste everything well
- polite staff / clean restaurant

umm thats it! haha i mean theres nothin else to say, i've been enough places and had thai smile so many times its ridiculous.

favorite dishes are
-hot basil tofu
-pineapple fried rice

Agree with "more like chinese"
I agree with everything 'more like chinese' had to say about this restaurant except that it is a good bargin. I am not from this area, but the prices were nothing more than average and the serving size average. Regardless, we just came back to our hotel with take out, and the food is so horrible we aren't even going to be able to finish it. We are going out again to get something else, so it is far from a bargin.

I ordered the Pad Thai and it tasted very deep fried, much like chinese chicken wings and not at all how it is supposed to taste. My partner ordered the vegetable soup and it was so horrible she can;t finish it. The broth tasted like campbells and the vegetables, with the exception of the brocali tastes like it is from a can.

I cannot say enough how unauthentic this thai food is, nor how horrible. Sorry I tried to think of something positive, but I don't have anything..... Looking at the fish tank while we waited was nice I suppose.....

Excellent Thai Food
We drove down from Los Angeles this past weekend just to eat here. The food is amazing. The reviews are correct when in Palm Springs try this place. The spring rolls and garlic chicken are must haves!
