Excellent food and fun atmosphere
I guess we must have been in a different restaurant than the previous 2 visitors. We were greeted immediately, got a table and had excellent service - not one glitch. We are not sushi fans so we concentrated on the other half of the menu. The fish taco appetizer was excellent and the beer cold. The BBQ ribs and chicken were moist and tasty and the portions large. Our garlic fries were shoestring cut, tasty and enjoyable. The panko cod fish and fries were also tasty, although the cole slaw was not especially good.

Overall a good meal with moderate pricing as restaurants go these days, not cheap and not outrageous.

Interesting combo by Pam N. at InsiderPages
Tex Wasabi's has a very interesting combination menu. Sushi and BBQ. I've tried both and have not been disappointed.

They do offer the soy wraps for those of us who don't like seaweed.

The food is good and the decor is very nice. Sports on some tv's and old Japanese movies on the others. As I said, interesting combination.

Horrible place to go
The food is over priced, they have no idea how to make garlic fries, the servers are rude, and most of them look like they havent showered in days. The sushi guy Rene is disgusting, and rude, and should be fired . I will never go there again so long as Rene works there. My car was also broken into in the parking lot. And was caught on tape and I never even recieved an apology. I cannot stand this place. They need to stop giving Sacramento a bed name. I wouldnt wish this place on my worst enemy!

Worst Sushi and BBQ
We were driving towards arden fair mall to go eat at another sushi spot but saw Tex Wasabi and decides to give it a try. We found out it was a Japanese mix BBQ restaurant. It looks like a Fusion Texas Road house and Mikuni inside. They had a huge bar. We stood there for a while before someone finally greeted us and turns out this waiter was outside smoking all though he saw us walked in but still insisted on finishing his cigarrette first while we waited for him to come in and seat us. Anyways, the sushi chefs were not even japanese. We order a drink and of course since we were out for sushi we ordered real raw sushi and 2 rolls. I am a Huge Sushi fanatic and my guy loves BBQ, it wouldve been the perfect dining spot for us but too bad the sushi was not fresh, every piece of raw fish came thinly slice. Cheaply made. The BBQ dish that my guy ordered was dry, flavorless. It was nothing like Texas BBQ. We were extremely disappointed. It was a waste of our money. And the drink that we ordered? well the waiter completely forgot about it and it was sitting at the bar melted. By the time he brought the drink over, we were ready to pay and leave. He did apologized but still charged us for a drink that we barely touched nor enjoyed. It was one of the worst experience ever! Stick to a real sushi restaurant or an authentic BBQ spot. Sushi and BBQ is not a great mix. I am not sure why the other reviewer gave such great fake reviews, must be a friend of the restaurant owner or something. Seriously, I eat out a lot from the Bay Area, to Vegas, to LA and now checking out Sacramento restaurants weekly. Coming from the Bay Area/LA/Vegas means you know great food. Tex Wasabi does not serve great food or provide great service. Spend your money elsewhere.

Fun, lively and excellent service and food.
After having seen the owner of tex Wasabi on television it was a natural thing to go visit his restaurant.
My sister and I had just been sitted and I spotted the owner across the room. Called out "HEY GUY" and he came over to our table and chatted. Had the waiter bring us some "Killer Egg Rolls" and they are that. Several times he came to our table to check how we were doing. Guy Fieri is in person just as he is on television..........fun, exciting and into the food.........The sushi was so fresh and the nigiri fabulous. I have not been a fan of raw fish but after eating it at the Tex Wasabi restaurant I am. Also we were there on a Monday and returned on Friday for the same lunch adding the "Garden of Good and Evil Lettuce Wraps"...........which were EVIL (that's hot). The staff all take care of every diner whether or not they are your servers. Everyone has a smile and its a fun atmosphere. It's a 10 on my list for lunch! definitely OFF THE HOOK!!!!!
