Extremely Disapointed‎
My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We wanted to go someplace special for dinner and chose Sweet Basils. Big mistake. I ordered the ribeye medium which to me is fairly pink in the center. When our meal arrived I found the steak to be cooked through and through turning it gray without a hint of pink. Not only was it overcooked but it was tough, full of grissel and lacking any real flavor. I usually do not like to send food back but when the waitress asked how our food was I had to tell her the truth. She agreed the meat was overcooked and took it back. The next ribeye was only slightly less done but again was tough and lacking in flavor. I don't mind paying $28 for a steak if it's good but it was terrible. The waitress, Barbara, was very good but finding a $14 gratuity already added to our check left another bad taste in my mouth. I will never go back. (By the way I noticed the really good reviews were from a year or two ago. Maybe things have changed ...

Very dissapointing‎
We were very disappointed with my dinning experience at Sweet Basils, the ambiance was really the only plus of the evening. We had reservations and were seated right away on the patio as requested. The place was not full and plenty of wait staff were visible. However it was over 15 minutes before our waiter took our drink order and another 10 minutes until our waiter delivered the drinks and started to walk away without asking if we were ready to order. We had to stop him to place our order. It then took at least 30 minutes for our food to arrive; the food was barely warm and I had to flag down the hostess to get our food heated up. Our waiter did stop by to say he was sorry about the cold food but that was all. The price of the meal was expense, the portions very small not very good. We are terribly dissatisfied and wished we had gone somewhere else like Village Tavern or Green Valley Grill were the food and service are always great and at a much better price.‎

Too much for too little‎
We were so excited about going to Sweet Basils but it was terribly dissapointing. The ambiance and cocktails were the only good things about it. We made reservations and we got there on time. We were seated upstairs completely isolated from the rest of the patrons. (Although we were offered seating downstairs, after we were settled in). Some people may consider it romantic, but my concern was that they would forget about us. My concern was justified. It took our waiter half an hour to get our cocktails. It took them an additional half hour to get our food. We did not eat until an hour after we arrived. We understand it is gourmet food, so the portions tend to be smaller, but if that is the case then the food needs to be amazing. The food was average at best. We did not wait for desert. After we were served our meal, not once did our waiter come up to see if everything was okay. However, when we decided to leave we got our cheque right away. To say that we are terribly dissatisfied is ...

Why have a website menu if you are not going to update it? Food was just ok and yet a sandwiches mean only half a bun. If you like spending your money, for just ok, enjoy! If you want better service, food for the price go to Village Tavern!‎

Sweet Basil's Makes Me Wish I Were A Local!
I came to Greensboro/High Point on business and brought my group to Sweet Basil's for dinner. It was absolutely FANTASTIC. I wish I were a local so I could visit the restaurant more often. The food was excellent, the service was perfect ...
