My son was hoodwinked into paying 225% of the cost of a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant (Kelly Blue Book Value $12.390). 41,775 miles on it already , asking price $17,675 at an interest rate of 20% or approximately $11,300. We are told not to trust car dealers, but there is such a thing as outright misuse of the system if you (the customer) do not have an excellent credit rating. I understand that the dealers want to make money but do they really have to downgrade and rob a 2007 College Graduate trying to get transportation to Dayton for Graduate Studies? When asked to at least lower the interest rate the salesperson said that they could not do anything about the contract. However after calling the leader typed on the contract my son was told that they did not have his account. Hmm. Our society has negative myths and stereotypes about young African American men coming from all ends. It's a shame that when there are many young African-American men trying to be very productive law abiding citizens that they too are discounted and thrown to the lions.
