What an experience!
Wow. Talk about a fantastic time. My friend and I came to celebrate my birthday. After hearing so much about this joint...we finally had the opportunity to check this place out, unfortunately, it wasn't during their 50% off promo (only during lunch and you need to buy at least 2 and a drink). So you can imagine, I had high expectations for full priced sushi.
My friend and I started off with an Unfiltered Sake (Nigori I believe). The waitress brought out complimentary salad and miso soup. After we decided on the Kamikaze and Lobster Volcano rolls and Salmon and Shrimp Nigiri we were set.
The KAMIKAZE (tuna, salmon, hamachi, avocado, crab all deep fried) was large slices of yummy deep fried goodness that could barely fit inside my mouth. And trust me, I've inhaled some pretty large sushi pieces without having to take a bite. It was nicely decorated on a bed of fried rice noodle and surrounded by a drizzle of variety of sauces.
The LOBSTER VOLCANO (Cali Roll topped with baked dynamite sauce and lobster) was the star of the show for me. They turned off almost all the lights and everyone in the place hushed to see what was going on, out comes a sushi roll on a wooden plank with flames surrounding it! Wow, talk about presentation!!! It was just the right size and sauce with chunks of lobster in every bite.
The NIGIRI: Salmon and Shrimp were fresh and the best part was that I didn't taste any wasabi crap that they sometime use to stick the fish to. Plus the Salmon slice was big and fresh!
After catching wind that it was my birthday the waitress said happy birthday in Japanese (of course I appreciated it) but the sushi chef must've heard as well. They turned off all the lights and played this electronica sounding version of Happy Birthday and brought out Green Tea Ice Cream with candles surrounding it. Talk about embarrassing but I was grinning from ear to ear.
My overall experience was a great one as service exceeded my expectations (clearing empty plates away quickly and asking how everything was). Coming back!
