be aware
Don't give them a deposit when they request it to hold a stall. Even if you don't sign the contract and let them know within 24 hours that you won't be boarding there, they will keep the deposit.

Family Friendly Stable
Both of my daughters take riding lessons at Sunrise Equstrian ? one for 3 years and the other for 1 year. We had been at 2 other stables previously and I was very frustrated with the unreliability of the instructors. I can?t tell you how many lesson times were ?forgotten!? This is not the case at Sunrise. The instructor is ALWAYS on time for lessons (or calls to reschedule) and conducts the lessons in a fun, safe, and encouraging manner. There are both indoor and outdoor arenas so we can ride in almost any weather.
One of the owners recently helped us find the perfect first horse for our family ? being sure to thoroughly test any prospects for riding and temperament suitability. Our horse is boarded at SEC and we love it! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and willing to go out of their way to help if you need it. The horses are on a dewormer schedule; there are weekly farrier visits and a terrific fly control program. This barn has virtually no flies! It?s amazing!
We are so glad to have found this wonderful, family-friendly stable and highly recommend them for lessons or boarding.

Great riding lessons!
My daughter has been taking English riding lessons at Sunrise since summer 2006. She loves it! And I love how the trainer/owner teaches. She is so patient and never raises her voice at the girls. She is very knowledgable and very encouraging. I've heard that some local stables pressure their students and are very hard on them when they don't perform well. At Sunrise, the goal is to learn good riding skills, not be berrated. If the girls/horse make a mistake, she gives them guidance and they repeat the ride until they are successful. My favorite thing about Sunrise is that the owners treat everyone as family. We've met some very nice families since we've been going there and created some good friendships. I expect we'll be at Sunrise for a long time!

My horse is happy and so am I !!
I have boarded at Sunrise for 8 years and cannot say enough about not only the support they've given me (as a first time horse owner) but also the care my horses have received. My current horse became very ill (colic) in Sept. 2001 and the barn manager took him to the vet for me (I was working full time and didn't have a trailer). Upon returning to the barn that evening, both the manager and owner stayed with me and my horse in the indoor arena to observe him and walk him. When it became apparent he was getting worse, the barn manager trailered me and my horse to an equine vet 30 miles away at 2:00 am. He had emergency surgery and would have died had he not gotten to the vet when he did. This is just one example of the kind of support afforded to boarders. The barn is kept clean, the horses are out of their stalls, weather permitting, every day, and I never worry about my horse being stolen because the owner lives on the property. There is an indoor washrack, a central fly spray system, automatic waterers in the stalls, 2 arenas, good fresh gain and hay. The barn is family oriented with very nice people around. I also take lessons which, along with being instructional, are always fun. My daughter started lessons when she was 11 years old at Sunrise and continued them until she recently left for college. She loved going to the barn and there is no doubt in my mind that her experiences there will always be remembered as wonderful times.
