Interesting place. Before even opening the door you are greeted with a sign saying do not use the restrooms unless you are a paying customer. This led to an awkward moment upon entering the establishment as you had better announce to the watchful bartender you intentions to dine before going to the restroom. Fortunately, we were there to dine. The waiter showed all the warmth and friendliness of a Siberian prison guard. No apology was offered after we had to ask for a slice of swiss cheese that was forgotten on the turkey sandwich. Then the waiter had the audacity to include 17% gratuity on the bill - for a party of 3 no less. I was only left to conclude that he was used to getting "stiffed" for his wonderful attitude.
More signs abounded through the establishment - Counted at least two we refuse the right to serve anyone signs leading me to wonder if they are frequently overrun by a gang of Hells Angels.
On the positive side, the establishment was very clean and the views from the dining room are very nice.

Loved It!: Our experience at Strawberry Inn was just wonderful. The staff was friendly, the room nice, the beds pretty comfortable (we are used to memory foam), the food good. For the price you will get a great value. Everything (including our room) was very clean. We especially liked the eggs benedict and spare ribs (the pizza was good too). The drinks left nothing to be desired either! Eating outside in the ‘tree house’ was so beautiful and peaceful (if you don’t mind a little sway while you eat). A lot of the locals eat there because the food was quite tasty.

The grounds were nice and had a lot to see, with nice paths. The river right behind the Inn was absolutely gorgeous, we spent much time next to it. I found the location much preferable to the Pinecrest Lake resort area, which was completely over populated with screaming kids (good for the kids I guess, we wanted tranquility and we got it) and a very rough and rocky path around the lake. Then there is the Strawberry Market across the street which carries everything from all you need to go fishing to food, booze and various kitschy souvenir items. (It even carried my favorite morning drink “diet rockstar” which I can’t always even find in populated areas. Needless to say I was happy.)

We want to go back again next summer and have recommended the Strawberry Inn as a good place to stay to our friends.

Decent place for dinner/drinks: For those staying in/around Strawberry, or those looking for dinner after skiing at Dodge Ridge, the restaurant in the Strawberry Inn is the only option within short distance. The ambiance is casual, but nice - pool tables, big fireplace. The menu is pretty basic (burgers, steak, pizza, pasta, appetizers, etc) and very kid friendly (chicken tenders, grilled cheese...) and the food is decent. The place is also good for catching the big game, with a nice size plasma on the wall.

The downsides include a wait (remember, it's the only place around) and a somewhat surly bartended (who seems overworked w/o a bar back).
