After living in Salinas for 24 years, I have never been to the Steinbeck house. This was my first time and I have to say that I am impressed. Great food quality, historic ambiance, friendly customer service, and very good prices for the quality. You get more than you pay for. A meal is about $10-$12 without a drink and dessert is only $4. There is a choice between two entrees, but it is made with such care, flavor, and style that leaves your taste buds wanting more. I have always passed by because I assumed the cost was high, but to my amazement it isn't. Now I can say that I have been to the historic house John Steinbeck was born and raised in.
