I have been a St. John Vianney parent since 1999. The school has gone through many transitions--new administration, teachers retiring, etc. Prior to January 2008, I highly recommended this school to friends and co-workers. The new principal, Mrs. Judith Santiago, has disappointed both staff and parents on many levels. My 6th grade daughter had an unhappy experience last week where a couple of older boys allegedly used inappropriate towards her. It was late in the evening when she reluctantly shared this with me. I immediately emailed Mrs. Santiago, demanding an explanation, as no one from the school had bothered to call me. Although Mrs. Santiago received the first three emails I' d sent her--once in January when I welcomed her to the family, and two in February where I had homework questions--she suddenly and mysteriously no longer has an online account. Tried calling the school NINE times the following day--NO ONE answered! My husband managed to contact Mrs. Santiago and she assured him she'd call me immediately. Half an hour later, cell in hand, no calls came from Mrs. Santiago. I contacted my husband at work again since he obviously had better luck reaching her than I. Mrs. Santiago lied to my husband, claiming she'd called me several times, but I had not picked up. She repeated this LIE again this morning as the parents of the boys and I met with the principal and guidance counselor. When I repeated that she was a LIAR, Mrs. Santiago stared in confusion. Staff has also confided that they are harassed at work; complaints to the pastor result in nothing.
