Owner cares less.
About six months ago I purchased two new bicycles from Sports Center Bicycles, a Defy 1 and a Roam 1. The reason I purchased the bikes from Sports Center Bicycles was the salespersons. They had a helpful attitude and understood that I was not ready to spend six thousand dollars or more on a top bicycle. I was returning to cycling after a twenty year layoff, so I was not sure about style or size. The first surprise came when I picked up my Defy; I was told the bike came with the clip less pedals that were on the bike. But when I returned the pedals had been removed. Was told they put the pedals on the bike by mistake and were not included. That added another unexpended hundred to the price of the bike but I just let it go.
A couple of weeks later I began thinking if I made the best decision on where I purchased my bikes. The saddle on the Defy started to split. Showed it to Sports Center Bicycles and was told no problem they will contact Giant for a replacement. I was called when the new saddle came in to drop off the bike. Returning to pick up bike I was a little shocked when they rolled it out with a cheap mountain bike saddle on it. When I questioned what was going on, I was told it was the saddle Giant sent and it was a better saddle. It did not take much to get them to replace the saddle with the right one, but really surprised it was done in the first place. I knew when I purchased the bikes the warranty only covered labor for sixty days. After dealing with many bicycle dealers in my life I did not give it much thought, I have always been treated more than fair.
Just after the sixty day limit a rear spoke broke. Sports Center Bicycles charged me twenty five dollars for labor to replace a spoke. Thought it was a little steep but figured it was a onetime incident and forgot about it. A short time later a second spoke broke. Brought the bike back in, they changed the spoke and to my surprise hit me with another charge. When on my next ride another spoke broke I went back to Sports Center Bicycles to ask what

Avoid for repairs
I haven't found them to be the best value as far as places to get your bike fixed. I needed my hydraulic brakes bled in 2007 and when I went back to pickup the bike, the lever still smashed all the way to the grip. They tried re-adjusting, but couldn't make it work. This was right before a DH race so this really sucked.

I ended up spending more on service than the price of an entire new replacement brake setup. It would have been nice for the mechanic to let me know I could have bought a brand new hayes 9 instead.

Marina Cycle & Skate will do work for much less, but it takes longer since it's a one man shop. Great Guy

Very nice place! by Elizabeth F. at InsiderPages
We were looking for a bike seat for our daughter and they were very frienly and helpful! They didn't have what we needed, but offered to order it for us. We were very happy with them and they have a lot of great bikes too! If you need a bike or bike accessories, check out this place. They look small, but inside is packed with lots of great bikes! They have high end and low end models, so you will find a bike for every budget.
