Plastic Canned Mushrooms
I had just moved and was ordering from Souvlaki often. I got a veggie pizza with eggplant and the mushrooms were totally nasty. I could not even chew them.

I will not be ordering from them again.

Some of the best food anywhere! by Shadow w. at InsiderPages
I must say, these guys have the best Gyro around, hands down. I'm also a big fan of their Mushroom Pizza. If you love mushrooms like I do, then you certainly won't be disappointed by the heaping amounts they put on their pie.

Great subs by Angie B. at InsiderPages
Souvlaki's has one of the better subs in town. There steak tips are also great, but I like the steak and cheese better. This is a great place to eat and a good value for the amount of food you get.

Great subs by Neva A. at InsiderPages
This place has great subs. The service is ok, and they're not too friendly, but their food is good. Pizzas aren't as good as their hot subs and gyros.

GO TO PIZZA MARKET, CHECKMATE, OR SANTORO'S!
February, 2007: I have been eating gyro sandwiches for 23 years now. I have never been "presented" with a gyro like this before. Thank gawd. Souvlaki's "Gyro Platter" is a disgrace. For $7 (plus tax & tip) you get, according to their menu, a gyro sandwich, fries, and a salad.

When the lukewarm food arrived at my office an hour after the order was placed (plus the 10 minutes they kept my coworker on hold), here's what I got in my styrofoam boxes:
Half a pita (two quarters of a pita, really)
A little container of some exceptionally weak tzadziki sauce (not-quite-pulverized cucumbers and... something... white)
A bunch of lamb pieces loosely wrapped in foil. Apparently this is buffet-style gyro?
There WERE no tomatoes, onions, or lettuce to put on the build-your-own gyro.

Unless, of course, you take the vegetables out of the "salad." After which, your salad consists of two slices of cucumber, a mediocre-sized slice of feta cheese, a couple pieces of green pepper, and a bunch of mostly-white lettuce. Oh yeah, plus the nearly un-spiced vinegar-and-(mostly)oil for "dressing." By then, I just closed that box and dropped it in the trash. No salt for the cold fries, but enough ketchup packets to lubricate the driveshaft of a '58 Packard.

Next time we'll call Pizza Market (East Side Plaza, Hanover Street), Checkmate Pizza (The Chateau, Hanover Street), or Santoro's (couple of locations).
