Southside Pet Shop does NOT buy from puppy mills. I know because I previously worked there (2006). They buy from local breeders and take very good care off their puppies. Often times I would have to refuse a customer buying puppy that was not right for their home environment. (Some dogs don't do well with other dogs or children. Some dogs need a yard and not an apartment.) Now, if thats not caring about these puppies I dont know what is... Now that I am considering buying a puppy of my own (finally) I can think of no where else to go. Even though they dont currently have my breed I am happy just waiting until they get a litter in since I dont trust some other pet shops in town.‎

Southside is a wonderful store with very helpful employees and a very clean store. I do know for a fact as having shopped there for many years that they do not purchase puppies from mills, only reputable breeders that are akc/ckc ...

Southside doesnt buy from puppy mills or BYB's. They are well taken care of. I raised a litter of very nice chi pups, i sold all of the litter but 2, i visited the shop and was very pleased with their place, They were able to place my last 2 pups in loving homes, I am even in contact with the buyers. They are wonderful people and I recommend them 100%.‎

the animals here are safe and healthy they dont get their animals from places that dont feed them or puppy mills. the fish are in quaritine before they put them in the stock tank. they are very educational on their animals making sure that their customers are content and happy. I know the owners and they get quality animals and fish. All animals and fish are bred locally or in the United States‎

I agree that puppy mills are wrong, and that going to the shelter and saving a dog's life is a great idea, but i do not believe that all pet stores get their puppies from a mill, and if in fact they do wouldn't you be saving that dog's life? ...
