Southland Vet by Kim H. at InsiderPages
I highly recommend Southland. They've always been friendly and knowledgable and have guided me through the back to back loss of two pets as well as the (many months later) adoption of two new kittens. Dr. Hardigree was great in detailing treatment options for both my sick cats and...in outlining to a very upset owner what the next thing was to consider. She constantly went above and beyond...researching one of my cats conditions that was unfamiliar to her, recommending one of her staff to petsit when I was afraid my regular sitter could not handle the medication issues, and working my feverish kitten in spite of a full schedule.

Southland Vet Staff are FABULOUS!
My boston terrier, Chase, was mauled with over a hundred bite marks over his entire body, He had a broken leg. My husband came home and found him in a pool of blood and barely breathing. He called me crying and I told him to take Chase to Southland Vet. I hurried to meet him there and we weren't sure that Chase was going to make it. The vet was honest with me and the staff were amazing. I have been in people hospitals that did not have the caring attitude that this group of people had. They gradually brought his body temperature up, cleaned him and bandaged as much as they could. He had extensive bruising over his entire body. My heart was breaking because my baby might not pull through. The staff gave me encouragement and kleenex. Chase had surgery for his broken leg and seems to be on the mend, but not for the fabulous staff, he would just be a memory.

When you want a quality facility with experienced and caring staff, don't look for anywhere else but Southland Vet.

Good emergency, but expensive by Evan B. at InsiderPages
I was thankful that they have an emergency service, but it cost me an arm and a leg. They did successfully treat my dog and kept her overnight. The staff was friendly. The clinic is a little hard to find in the dark.

not a great experience by angela w. at InsiderPages
I took my puppy to Southland Vet and first off, I must say that the staff was incredibly friendly and loving towards my puppy. They are definitely pet lovers. When I met the vet, she was very sweet to my puppy but I felt that she talked down to me about him because he is a mixed breed. After the exam, the assistant brought me a new puppy pack with food, literature, etc. which I thought was nice but then I found out that I was paying $12 for this bag of Pro Plan food that would cost about $7 at the store. I told the checkout attendant that I did not want the food, etc. because I did not need it and my puppy really loved science diet (which the vet said was great) but she said it was required for new clients. So, after the food and flea/heartworm medication that I had to purchase but did not need, I ended up paying an extra $27.00 for unnecessary stuff. The visit would have been around $80 I think, which is not expensive for the vet, but the other stuff was not worth it. They also neglected to send any reminders about a shot my puppy needed and basically reprimanded me for not knowing about the shot when I came back. So, needless to say, the people are ok but the policies are not. I have switched to another vet in Lexington which has no hidden charges and great correspondence.

Wonderful Vet by Lori R. at InsiderPages
Southland vet takes very good care of our cats, in good health and bad. They are good at handling emergencies, and respectful & kind at the loss of a pet. We have a 16 year old cat that wouldn't be with us without the care of the good people at Southland Vet. Their charges are very reasonable, and they are great about sending out reminders when a pet is due for tests.

PROS: Caring professionals, convenient location
CONS: None
