I am totally surprised by the quality of the food. My husband used to go here to drink with his buddies back when he was a bachelor so it never occurred to me that you'd sit down and eat here.

I went on a fish taco tour of San Diego sponsored by Chevrolet. Chevy picked up the tab so I never saw an actual menu. I'm pretty sure that everyone agreed that South Beach had the best fish tacos out of the other 4 highly reputable establishments we visited. They were sooooo good and chock full of flavor. I loved that they were on flour tortillas soo.

It's not a family friendly establishment, but rather more like a bar. We were all ID'd when we walked in. The bouncer admitted that they'd been having some "trouble" with minors entering.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was completely packed.

Go here and get the fish tacos, you will not be dissapointed! On tuesdays these gifts from god are only two bucks as well. They've got some great beers, and also a delicious ceviche. There is nothing better than visiting this place after a day at the beach or down on the cliffs and just mowing there tacos and putting back a couple beers! The crowd is a good mix of young and old, and its pretty clean althoguh still very much an OB bar.

A classic OB hangout, South Beach, though not a traditional Old Town haunt is a favorite for Taco Tuesday as the fished tacos really are some of the best around. The grilled mahi-mahi and lobster are my favorites but there are a few grilled and a few fried choices to suite everyone. The rest of the appetizers are tasty as well and pairs well with happy-hour drink and draft beer specials. Though it can get packed(thanks to the stellar location) it is worth it for a good eclectic mix of people watching and you certianly won't wait any longer than you would in Old Town on a Tuesday night and will definitley have a much yummier taco!

`Best fish tacos I've found in San Diego!

Mahi and lobster are my favorite tacos, but let's not forget to give credit to even their chicken tacos - great chipotle sauce on top!! My husband loves the mahi torta.

The calamari appetizer is DELICIOUS! They do great chips/salsa/guacamole too. And the french fries are good (and they provide malt vinegar to go with the fish and chips). I've also loved dining on their nachos. Pretty much everything on the menu is good... but I usually only expand my palette for appetizers because I can't NOT get the fish tacos!

Expect to wait/hover for table. It's seat yourself on a first come first serve basis, and you'll have to fight for a table on busy nights. They usually have a good happy hour special, however it ends by 6pm.

Best Mahi Tacos EVER! I can't comment on anything else because these are so delicious I can't even bring myself to order anything else (besides the great draft beer, of course.) Taco Tuesdays and Happy Hour are the best time to get these amazing tacos, because they are super cheap. Only problem- finding a table. It is seat yourself, first come first serve, and I have to admit, I have walked out of here several times because the table situation is so dismal. Don't be surprised to see people standing around trying to juggle food and beer. A few years ago you could bring your kids in here before 6, but no longer, so don't expect to bring the fam. The bouncers are extremely diligent about checking IDs, so don't forget that either.
