I have been going to Southbay for almost 10 years now and everytime I go I have a problem. The staff is horrible. They do not know what they are doing. The only reason why I still go there is because I really like my doctor. I wish she would move and open up her own practice so i wouldnt have to deal with such idiots.

I have been a patient for over16 years. He delivered all 4 of my children. He is a wonderful and caring doctor. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone.

My husband and I have had nothing but a positive experience at South Bay. We went as a referall from a family member. The doctors were compassionate, especially during a miscarriage, infertility treatments and a very difficult pregnancy. My needs were always met. The wait may be long at times, but I new when my turn came, time would be spent answering my questions. When you are dealing with OB-GYN emergencies happen and the office can get backed up, I know several times I was that emergency and I was always seen promptly.

South Bay OB Gyn is located right on Montauk Highway in West Islip, west of Good Sam. They have been in the neighborhood for quite awhile and have a decent reputation, which I why I went there when I was pregnant with my first child. I beg to differ with popular opinion, however. This office is overcrowded and it is difficult to get an appointment. There are so many doctors that you rarely see the same once twice and definitely lose continuity in your treatment. For example, I had never met the doctor who came to the hospital to deliver my baby. In fact, I spent several minutes on the telephone (in labor) with him where he was telling me (it was New Year's Day) I was not in labor, to relax. If you have ever been in labor, relaxing when not in the hospital is relatively impossible. Thank goodness I had a doula who believed me and rushed all the way from two counties away (pregnant herselt) to make sure if I was in labor - which I was. She rushed me to the hospital and the experience only got worse. To make a long story short, inappropriate comments were made about me and my child, the emergency c-section was incorrectly performed and my treatment was just terrible. When I had my second child and went to another OB GYN, there was no comparison. The treatment at this doctors office is generic and uncaring and I would not recommend them.

PROS: Convenient location, good reputation
CONS: Poor service, incompetency, impersonal

The two biggest issues facing OB/GYN offices is scheduling and individualized care. So many centers I've dealt with or heard of in the Long Island area have difficulty scheduling patients for short-term appointments, and they treat their patients rather impersonally.

South Bay OB/GYN is not like that at all. I've never had any problems getting an appointment with my doctor on an emergency basis, and when some problems have come up, my doctor has been extremely thorough and conservative with her treatment. I've been treated with great care at South Bay, and if you're looking for a new OB/GYN in this area, I definitely recommend you see one of the doctors here.
