First of all, it is extremely slow, especially during peak hours (around 3pm-7pm). At which the connection is essentially the same as a 33.6k modem. One day the internet connection died for a week. I personally went to the office to ask why the internet was down, and they told me they had to shut the connection down because I was downloading illegal files. They already had a printout of a list of files that I have downloaded, isn't this considered privacy invasion? The only reason for this was a laptop that was in the household had a torrent program installed, and whenever it was on, it uploaded files over the net. After this incident, Softcom started limiting the connection speed. Now it only downloads files at dial-up speeds 2-7 KB/sec. Anyhow, it cost $400 for the initial setup, and over $60 a month. You are better off with Hughes Net(same price) or Dial-up.

Softcom is the worst ISP in town. Ohh wait they are the only isp in town so we are stuck with them. They overcharge for a service that can best be described and two tin can connected by a piece of string. The keep raising their rates to improve service but every year their service gets worse. You call and inform their so called tech support that your latency is over 5000ms and their answer is "Oh sir that is normal" I would accept that as an answer if we were bouncing the signal off of the moon. If you have any other options available other than softcom take it. If not you are just stuck like the rest of us until something better comes to town.‎
