A landmark

Skids is one of several traditional style diners popular in the Burlington, N.C. area. It's pretty much a burger and fries type of place in 1950's diner style. You can go in or if you so choose you can have your food brought to your care just like the drive-ins from decades ago. Only one problem so far that I have found and that is: I have eaten here only once after trying to eat here several times. Only on one occasion did I actually get my food before waiting so long I got frustrated and left. If you have the extra time go ahead and try skids, but I will never go back.

When I was 4 or 5 and living in Burlington, one of my greatest joys was going with my maw-maw, Grace Wolfe, to Skid's for a hotdog. My whole family knew the owners and would chitchat about what was up. Their hotdogs are still the best to me today. A trip to Burlington is just not complete without one of Skid's hotdogs. Try them - you will never be the same.
