Mayhall's by Megan C. at InsiderPages
I had to add this business in hopes that it may come in handy for some gal looking for sewing classes. ( I am moving to nyc and I am having trouble finding postings, so I thought I would add my great find on the los angeles pages). I moved to California recently and was searching for a new hobby. I've always wanted to sew and learn to make/cut apart and reassemble my own clothes. Montrose was quite the drive from West Hollywood, but I took a risk and, oh so worth it!~ The course is geared toward beginner/intermediate level, but I believe you can join the course at any time. You purchase 4 classes at a time at 3 hours for each class. Thus 12 hours of instruction for under $70. This is quite the find, considering you are recieving individual attention. Classes are limited to 6 people, but I always had less than 4 other gals. Norma the instructor is fantastic, and quite the seamstress. I deeply regret having to relocate. If you took Norma's course for 6 months, I believe you would be a pretty darn good sewer. If you've ever considered learning to sew, do this. You will not be able to find other instruction of this level, nor for this reasonable of a price. I can't say enough good things. They also do sissor sharpening, have all kinds of sewing notions, and they repair the machines on the premise. Bernina specialists. Also the area is so darling, and quaint. The cheese and wine shop next door is great for a pre class snack, and the thai restaurant a ways down is to die for.
