Sub-Par Range Please Avoid by Brandon S. at InsiderPages
First off, I'm a former range instructor from a coastal shooting range and Firearms store. NRA Pistol, Long Gun, & CWP certs. The first visit to Shooters Choice (and last) for me was full of reasons to seek another range. First of all, I asked for 2 boxes of Speer Lawman 40 S&W ammo, the clerk slapped 2 boxes of reloaded crap ammo that we didn't even allow on my old range because the rounds were known to be over-charged and would damage/destroy even well made firearms and possibly injure the shooter. After I refused the less than adequate ammo, the clerk returned with the correct ammo with, lets say a not very professional attitude. The price per box of ammo is quite high but that is expected. This can all be over looked. Chalk it up to a bad day for the employee and/or lack of training. After a considerable wait, I was allowed to enter the range. Set up target(s), fired box & 1/2 or so then started packing up. Threw away all my trash and started walking out of the range door. Just then, the Range Master grabbed me by the arm and handed me a broom. He said I had to sweep up all of my spent brass! What??? Are you kidding me? Number 1. A customer on a live firing range with a broom sweeping is is a potential disaster. The range master should always perform any cleaning/maintenance on a live fire range. Not to mention I paid for ammo, paid for range time, paid for targets and now I'm the ranges maid? I don??????t think so. A little fact that I bet you don't know, The brass is resold for quite a profit so not only did they make me sweep my own brass that I paid for, they sell it and/or reload it then try to pawn off the crap reloads back to us. The only people that patronize this range are people who have not ever been to a REAL shooting range or just don't have any common since anyway.
