Eye Center
The staff in the scheduling department were very helpful and friendly. I've done some research on the doctors and they all seem very qualified. It is a teaching facility after all - they are top in research and new ideas.

The parking lot is easily accessible and they give you a parking permit so you don't have to pay a fee to park there. There is a bit of a wait, however, I expect that at any doctor's office - especially one of this size. They take most insurances, but you should double check when you make your appointment. I know someone who was able to pay in cash since they didn't take her insurance.

Shiley Eye Center has one of the best doctors in the nation supervising the eye center. I went to get my laser surgery done there and after interviewing over 6 doctors we picked them because they were the most professional. They had the latest and greatest equipment, and the staff was always attentive.

They made me feel comfortable and confident about their capabilities to perform my delicate surgery which was PRK not Lasik. I can see great now and I would recommend these guys to everyone thinking about eye surgery or just general eye health.

They specialize in Lasik and PRK. Very thorough and now I cant believe that I wore contacts for so long. This is something I should have done a long time ago. It has changed my life.
Pros: Professional, real surgeons, UCSD Research Center
Cons: Pricey...but worth it..have to use a parking permit all the time...kind of annoying.

Shiley Eye Center has one of the best doctors in the nation supervising a great staff. My girl friend and I went to 5 of the top recommended eye surgeons in San Diego and we both choose Shiley Eye Center.

They were the most thorough and professional organization we experienced. All their equipment was top notch and highly advanced. They were very courteous and informative about the procedures and what to expect.

They really cared about our concerns and questions even though they may have been simple, but they were important to us. Dr. Shanzlin was great and we felt completely comfortable with his care and passion that he has for his patients and his practice.

My girl friend had Lasik and I had PRK because my corneas were to thin. Both of our surgeries went perfectly with out a hitch. We have had several follow ups since then and each time they take great care of us and make sure our eyes are healing correctly.

I would recommend any body considering eye surgery to visit the Shiley eye center. I am wimp when it comes to anything medical especially surgery and I am so glad I did it. My life has changed since I had the surgery done. I cant imagine life with contacts ever again. I can surf, play golf, be active and not worry about the nonsense of contacts.
Pros: Great staff and nationally recognized doctors.
Cons: Make sure you get a parking pass, they are on the UCSD campus.

This guy thinks he is God by Jessica W. at InsiderPages
We had been referred to another doctor for our child, but then went online and found Dr Granet, and he seemed good on paper. We wish we would have stuck with the other doctor, who we have seen ever since and we are very happy with.

As for Dr Granet, we waited forever to be seen, several HOURS in the waiting room, and then were seen by students first, which I understand since it is UCSD and teaching is part of it. But Dr Granet, when he finally did arrive, was so full of bluster and self importance! He spoke about himself more than about my son. When we asked about the other doctor, he said 'I am the best doctor in San Diego, you should be thankful that you are here today and not there.'

So unless you feel like waiting for hours on end to be told by someone how great they are, skip this doctor! There are other great doctors around (better actually). The other doctor wanted to do the same treatment in the same way as this one, but it was SO much of a better experience for my child and me. Never again.
