I have really been wanting to get one of the new high efficiency washer and dryer sets, but the price has put me off. So I thought I would go and see what the Sears Outlet Store had to offer. They claim that all of their appiances have been reconditioned and tested, or that the damage to them is strictly cosmetic and they offer the same manufacturer's warrenty on most of them as they do the new appliances. But I was really disappointed in the quality of their products. They had washers that still had water in them and smelled moldy (a common problem with the HE washers I've since learned). Some of them were heavily scratched and dented. Others were discontinued, like the Calypso model that they were selling. At any rate, the discounted price for their damaged merchandise was only around 5-10% off of retail. I think I would rather pay the full price and get something new that didn't look like it got dropped off the truck. Or better yet, I just called the repairman and got my old dependable top-loading washer fixed for $60. The lack of a circuit board will probably keep that thing running for another 20 years. I would not recommend the Sears Outlet store to anyone.
