Great Japanese Imports with a Long History
I have been going to this store since I was a child. The owners, Don and Cynthia are always friendly and attentive. The business has been in the family for years, started by Don's parents. There is so much to look at that it's hard to make up your mind as to what you want. There's amazing tea sets, saki sets, Kimonos, cookbooks, fans, incense, slippers, oragami books, swords, gift cards, knives, plates and so much more. You can't miss the little pond and bridge out back that lead to the back rooms where you can find sale items and room dividers. If you buy some of the Shisedo cosmetics you are almost sure to get some samples and/or a tote. (Satsuma was one of the first stores to import the cosmetic from Japan!) It's a great place to stop in while you are enjoying all the other shops and restaraunts on Sawtelle. Who knows maybe you'll run into one of the many celebraties that are friends with the owners and frequent there.
