disappointing hospice care
My father was transferred here for hospice care in '08. We understood it was a convalescent facility with a "hospice component" but it wasn't until he was there that it was made clear what this meant. First, there was no bed ready for him when he arrived. When he did get a bed, it had no bed rails, which was an issue as my father had spent the last days tossing and turning and at times trying to climb out of the bed. We were informed the facility did not allow bed rails. After much protest, an exception was offered, but the rails never arrived. My father's tossing ceased to be an issue :( We were also disappointed to discover that they did not provide monitors to sit next to him, as he had in the hospital. We were also very disappointed to learn the facility did not allow a morphine drip to ease his pain. (He could not longer swallow pills.) We mostly interacted with two of the facility's personnel.
