Let me start out by saying... i am a terrible patient. I flinch when water is shot in my mouth, I cringe at the sound of the drill, I work myself up into a panic during cleanings... i'm a big baby. On my first visit I expressed that to Dr Sands and she works very hard to make sure her patients are comfortable... even if that means spending more time on your appointment. I love the Hygienists, the ladies who run the front. This is really just a great Dentist with the best staff. It took about 10 dentists to match the quality, technology and care that Dr Sands has provided through her dentistry!

Recently my 6 year old son broke his tooth while having dinner. I got a referral to Dr Jamie Sands I called the office early the next morning and the receptionist was so helpful in coordinating a time to bring my son in. We got to the office and the girls at the front were so helpful. Then it was time to bring my son to the back. The assistant was very compassionate towards my son. My son is a bit fearful and when Dr Jamie came in it seemed like she made everything okay. The office recommended we use nitrous which was ideal, it was great. Dr Sands seems like she has a passion for dental work and she is just wonderful, she has a great hand and she walked both my son and I through the procedure. It was worth the drive from Santa Monica to Studio City.

I have spent most of my life fearing my next dental appointment. But after my first visit with Dr. Jamie Sands, everything changed.

She has the amazing ability to distract me from my unwarranted fears--whether with the IPod she keeps on hand, the TV (with cable!) that her patients can watch while she works, or, as another reviewer noted, her wonderful sense of humor. She even brought scented candles into the room when she had a sense that the smell of drilling teeth would bother me, even before I said anything.

I was just in the office 2 weeks ago to be fitted for 3 crowns. Everyone there, from the people at the reception desk, the hygenists, to Dr. Sands, were 110% professional. When it came time to "shape" the crowns (file them down so they fit right), she asked me how I felt (i.e., could I feel the crown?) I said I didn't know, and she said "either it is perfect, or it's not, and we're going to stay here until it is perfect". And that is why Dr. Sands is amazing--she is the ultimate perfectionist, which is what everyone deserves in a dentist.

My standards are extremely high--I come from a family of doctors and I myself am an attorney. And we schlep all the way from the Westside, with the kids, to see Dr. Sands because there is no one better. Now if she would just open a Beverly Hills office...

Unlike the last reviewer, I feel Dr. Jamie is an exceptional dentist that has giving me a great deal of amazing work over the last year. Moving recently moved to LA a few years back I found myself looking for a dentist and got a great recommendation from a friend to get a check up at her office. I have been with her office ever since.

Dr Sands attention to detail and genuine love for her work is very refreshing. She has a gentle touch and seems to take great pride in the comfort and health of her patients. She's also comes with a great personality and a fun sense of humor, which helps greatly when the nerves of having major work done are upon you. Most refreshing is her technique of educating you on the work she would like to perform on you by taking CLOSEUP PICTURES of the damaged tooth and showing you why and where she feels you need help on any spaciffic areas (i.e....cracks, cavity, etc). I felt like I had a lot of control on the choices available to me.


Her staff is outstanding and very friendly people. Every one of the hygienist, X-ray techs and anesthesiologist i've come across have been A+. (not to mention her recommendation of a surgeon for my wisdom teeth removal) EXCELENT!! My mouth is noticeably improved since my first at the office.

As for her being called a LIAR by the previous posting; well they defiantly don't know the Dr. Sands that I know. If anything, the insurance system needs the work. Unfortunately, my only grip would be her office like to encourage cosmetic work more then I'm comfortable with....but hell, we are in LA people, that's par for the course in this town. Am I right?! Enjoy.

Jamie Sands has a very poor bedside manner. She does not know what she is doing. She is a LIAR. She rips off insurance companies. Don't see a -1 on the rating scale. She is h o r r i b l e. AVOID THIS DENTIST AND RUN!
