World Famous San Diego Zoo *For A Reason*
The San Diego Zoo is world famous. And for a reason. It deserves it. There is no other zoo like it in the world and there is no zoo in any other city like San Diego. They have all kinds of animals that are sure to entertain the kids thru any adult. They have Polar bears, PANDA's, Elephants, HIPPOS, Giraffes, Peacocks, Monkeys, Gorillas, Cheetahs, Cougars, all kinds of animals, wildlife, educational events and special events like camping out with the animals. I can't image what the don't have. They even have cams so you can visit the zoo from long distance: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/zoo/index.php They also have an amazing wild animal park where you can see many of the same animals out in the open in more natural habitat settings. If you are visiting or a native, you have to visit the San Diego Zoo

Love it - need to go more often
We have an annual pass and I don't take advantage of all the zoo has to offer as much as I should. I would recommend you plan your trip in advance so that you can hit different parts of the zoo during times when stuff is happening. Like giraffe feedings.

We came here on a school field trip a few weeks ago. A zoo keeper stopped to talk to this gaggle of 3 year olds. He answered their questions and they were in awe. I've never had a bad customer service experience.

We love the Skyfari tram, petting zoo and Elephant Odyssey. When I was re-landscaping, I came to the zoo for ideas. It's a world renown botanical garden.

Just remember that you can bring in food and drinks but no lids or straws for the safety of the animals.

Gorillas are under rated
Lots of people focus on the newer exhibits when going to the zoo but I personally love the gorilla exhibit because of how social those animals are. you can tell they're thinking and watching you as your thinking and watching them. It must be what its like to live in a fish tank really, which is kind of crazy...

The San Diego Zoo is a great way to spend a Saturday. It's huge and cheap, just $25 for adults (August 08), that about $30 cheaper than Disneyland and Sea World.

I'm not sure how they keep it so much cheaper than other large attractions but they didn't skimp on amazing animal exibits. They've got it all and tons of unique animals I'd never seen before.

Tips: Most of the animals are active in the morning so arrive early, in the summer is when you get to see all the baby anmimals, as most are born in the spring and brought out to the public viewing areas in the summer.
Pros: low prices: $25 for adults, $12 for kinds (August 08) lots of exotic animals
Cons: not to many great shows or rides

Love the animals
The San Diego zoo is a great place to spend the day, or days. I would totally get a year pass because it's such a better deal than paying for one day since its so hard to see everything. The place is huge , with so much to see! I've seen so many animals there that I never new of before. The best part is the chimpanzees and monkeys, you can watch them forever and they will keep entertaining you! The panda bear is also pretty cool to see. Parking can be a hassle but they have a huge lot so you can generally find something it’s definitely worth the trip!
